Steal This Film 2 Goes Live
Written by Ernesto on December 28, 2007We’ve been waiting… and waiting… but STEAL THIS FILM II has finally been released, and it’s available for free. The League of Noble Peers announce that film is intended to ‘bring new people into the leagues of those now prepared to think ‘after intellectual property’, think creatively about the future of distribution, production and creativity’.
TorrentFreak was invited to a ‘preview’ screening a couple of months ago, and we think they might achieve their goal!
Steal This Film 1 already was a huge success with nearly 3 million downloads, and we think this will be no different for part 2. The film, again produced by The League of Noble Peers, features some people from the BitTorrent community such as Erik from mininova and Peter (aka Brokep) from The Pirate Bay. Dan Glickman from the MPAA also makes a short appearance stating that they will never be able to stop piracy, but I guess we already knew that.
Jamie King of the League Of Noble Peers was answering chat requests today, so we caught up with him to ask a couple of questions:
TF: You must be excited about releasing the film finally. What’s been the delay?
JK: To be honest, the film simply took a lot longer than we’d imagined to make — it’s a big step forward from STF I for us. And then we got sidetracked with The Oil Of The 21st Century, a conference some of us were involved in organising in Berlin this year. It was great and we got to preview the film there for some friends, but we’re sorry to everyone who was waiting. We’re sure no one has been that upset!
TF: Are you working with anyone to promote the film this time?
JK: Of course we’ll be working with The Pirate Bay again to do a bit of promotion, as we’ve really discussed the project a lot with those guys. We’ve also got to know the people at Mininova who’ll be seeding the torrent and promoting it a bit. I was also really pleased to hear that BitTorrent themselves will be featuring the film since we met them during a screening of STF II in Amsterdam. We’re really up for working with anyone who’d like to feature STEAL THIS FILM so get in touch!
TF: Is there a streaming version anywhere?
JK: We discussed this a lot. There will be a streaming version (and of course we can’t and wouldn’t want to prevent anyone transcoding it and uploading it whereever they like) but right now, it’s about BitTorrent. With The Pirate Bay and Mininova seeding it, there shouldn’t be any problem with the download speeds.
TF: Are you asking for donations?
JK: Yes, but not for this film :D We have a new project in development — based around our ‘Oil Of The 21st Century’ idea — and we’re headed out to Asia in the new year to start investigating. We’re asking anyone who wants to help us with this project to donate $5 or more (or whatever they can afford really) to donate@stealthisfilm.com. Oh! And we’re giving away a secret giftpack to anyone who donates $15 or more.
TF: Any final words?
JK: Only that we’re really pleased to be releasing STF II after more than a year and we’re looking forward to all the argument we hope it will generate. And we’d like to say a massive thanks to everyone who supported us so far. You rock.

where the hell did you find the ISO version of this film ????????!!!!????!!!???!!!????
incorrectly labeled
should be called share this film 2
calling it steal is aka crminalizing yourself.
Actually, it’s copyrighted. It says so at the end, “so you can still steal it.”
If you like this, you’d probably also like Good Copy Bad Copy (http://www.goodcopybadcopy.net/), a similar documentary (from which the Dan Glickman interview clip was, well, “stolen”).
GCBC is a tough act to follow. It opened my mind to so many different things, like Brazilian mashup music, the use of samples by N.W.A., and so on. This, STF II, is a decent and well-produced film but it really seems like not much in it is new, aside from a little historical perspective. Still, I’m glad the message is getting out there — repeating ourselves can’t hurt.
And perhaps this film was a little more populist. Though is it just me, or can that rapper not keep a rhythm at all?
downloading right now!
sharing is caring ;)
http://demonoid.com is down… Ernesto, can you figure out why? Thanks.
The speed I got from this torrent was incredible. Upwards of 600kb/s The fastest my bittorrent client has ever gone. And I just use Azureus. I downloaded the torrent straight from the website.

Anyone else get garbled audio in parts of the Xvid version? I’m watching the film and its very well produced, but I’ve had two areas with garbled audio so far (about 5 seconds of garbled sound each time) and I’m only on the 13th minute of the film. If others are having this same issues, they should reencode the originals again and reseed it. It would be/is a shame to have such a high quality produced film be release with technical issues such as the garbled audio.
Very pro this version, nicely done :)
congrat gents
Very nice film
Way better than the last film. Great work!
i didnt see part 1 but i figured why not give both a try.
currently i am downloading the second one with 800 KB/s ^_^
I will seed more with 200KB/s when i am done.
Heh, cant wait to see this one, seeding is very well, ill add my 30kb, to the stream :)

Are you serious…? Just wake up after a couple of months? Demonoid has been gone for so long now, maybe a search on TF might help.
Cant wait to see this!
How much you want to bet the MPAA/Media Defender are watching all four torrents on that site just taking down swaths of IPs to harass for random unsubstantiated shit later?

unlikely.
Its much easier, and less time consuming, to just continue to log torrents on private trackers is why.
Anyone know the last song from the movie?

It’s in the credits…
Demonoid probably went down because it’s message is already said. The forums that are up in it’s place for it’s community are at subdemon.com . Other than that I can’t really help you.
Great movie, just watched it.
And no, no garbeled audio here. Man, bittorrent sucks :p. (jk :D)
What the hell? ‘Blank’? Haha. I’m glad I changed my name, I guess it’s more common than I thought.
ironic that no one seems to be seeding it… I can’t download it at all…

Cool. Next time they should use .mkv for the HD version.
re comment 18…Good Copy Bad Copy…’from which the Dan Glickman interview clip was, well, “stolen”.’
Didn’t I also notice some material from STEAL THIS FILM I in Good Copy, Bad Copy? Maybe these filmmakers were actually *sharing* content so why imply that the Peers acted unfairly?
Is the a DVD case cover for this that I can print off any put around my case. Seeing as there is a dvd iso
Okay… so I’m ignorant. What the heck is “Steal This Movie”? Is it a how-to for copying HD movies or what?
No. It’s a documentary on the bit torrent/p2p scene.
i stole this film
i am a real thief
i gonna steal your car and your daughter
i already stole your wife
i am stealing your job and your money
i steal
all this talk about impropriety theft makes one ask oneself what is the agenda and where is the direction of the actors
the scriptures say do not steal. how on God’s earth do they design to make stealing ‘cool’ or otherwise acceptable?
i see the devil at work, i see deception, i see dishonesty and lies in their fairystory
blind are they that see not, deaf are they that cannot hear
woohoo another publicity act by the PIRATES covered by torrenfreak
let us all make stealing acceptable
steal steal steal, stealing is ok
the scriptures say do not steal. how on God’s earth do they design to make stealing ‘cool’ or otherwise acceptable?
Stealing has nothing to do with sharing - they’re very different concepts you know, unless you are a follower of capitalism - then they think anything that might make a corporation not make as much money as they want is stealing.
Cool. Next time they should use .mkv for the HD version.
Container doesn’t matter - they could have demuxed the H.264 video and AAC audio out of the .mov container and put it in .mkv or .mp4, it wouldn’t make a difference.

Yes, stealing is morally unacceptable and does break moral law. It is an immoral act, and destructive to us all on both a personal and on a societal level.
But within the context of the “pirate” community, stealing is used to refer to the very specialized situation of violating not so much moral laws as actual written laws which are themselves immoral.
Within this context, “pirate-stealing”, while still immoral, is the lesser of two evils (supporting an immoral oppressor versus opposing an immoral oppressor but by using immoral means).
And although this “piracy”/opposition is immoral, it ultimately kills no one, enslaves no one, oppresses no one, and is significantly less immoral than what it opposes.
Odds are good, it will continue.

“steal this film”is poorly worded
its like someone call you black and then you call yourself black
it should be caucasian or african american…
name it”share this film II” then ya get a lot more downloads
The majority seeing the words”steal” scares them or offends them.
Get over the “steal” word already :-P Its just there to provoke the ignorant people that actually think that sharing is “stealing”.
The film was good and I would like to thank all of those that has participated in it, made it and shared (stolen) it ;-)
