The RIAA has declared victory over Russian music download store AllofMP3, which it accused of the illegal distribution of millions of copyright tracks. The site, which was declared legal by a court last October, no longer offers music - but has spawned dozens of fully operational spin-offs. Victory for RIAA?…

AllOfMp3, the popular online music store, has been shut down by the Russian government. Pressure from the United States, and a refusal to enter the World Trade Organisation (WTO) convinced the Kremlin to take the website down for good.

The Russian government has closed down AllofMP3 and those who are trying to access its sister site, MP3Sparks, or another replacement may be disappointed that the site also seems to have disappeared. But never fear, those Russians have plenty of alternatives. We take a look at some of them.

ISPs and their trade association have refused to block a pair of websites on demands from the music industry. RISA, South Africa's answer to the RIAA, demanded ISPs block the Russian sites because they sell music for as little as 9 cents per track - or less for full albums.
