BitTorrent is the most widely used P2P protocol. New BitTorrent sites emerge regularly and we at TorrentFreak often get requests from people to write about their BitTorrent startups. Because it is nearly impossible to showcase all the new sites here on TorrentFreak, we decided to post a selection of some promising and / or innovative BitTorrent sites.

The new Bitlord 2.0 Beta is “Vista ready” and one of the first BitTorrent clients to include eDonkey support, thereby allowing its users to download from both networks simultaneously.

Another Dutch Torrent Site Taken Down

Most of the world’s largest and most important BitTorrent trackers are situated in The Netherlands, so you would expect that if anyone would be a target of Dutch anti-piracy oufit BREIN, they would. Wrong. BREIN has a long record of ignoring the heavyweights and picking on the little guy. Their latest target is dsb-tracker.org, a tiny BitTorrent tracker few will have heard of.

Court Rejects Appeal of First BitTorrent Convict

Chan Nai-ming, the first man ever convicted for using BitTorrent has lost his appeal. Chan was charged last year for copyright infringement for uploading the movies “Daredevil”, “Miss Congeniality” and “Red Planet”. He was eventually sentenced to three months in prison, but was released on bail pending appeal, which he now lost.

Some of the largest BitTorrent sites on the web have decided to sell their sites to Searching Unlimited LTD. They will work together in an effort to monetize the BitTorrent search engines, and create more innovative projects.
