Demonoid remains one the most popular BitTorrent sites on the Internet, despite a fairly colorful and turbulent past. Sadly its thousands of users could soon find themselves without their favorite site, as technical difficulties are set to cause possibly extended downtime.
According to reports coming in to TorrentFreak and tests carried out by us, we can report that Demonoid has been inaccessible to Russian users for at least a day. It appears that for many other countries it is business as usual – Demonoid works just fine.
The FBI has tracked down two individuals who uploaded Oscar screeners to BitTorrent trackers. The pair are accused of uploading screeners of Australia, Benjamin Button and Slumdog Millionaire to The Pirate Bay, Demonoid and Movie Hogs. They face harsh punishment of three years in jail.
According to an ever increasing wave of emails to TorrentFreak, it appears that residents of at least two countries can no longer access Demonoid. Not only are users from the Netherlands complaining they cannot access the site but now it’s the turn of Brazilian BitTorrent fans to wonder why they’ve been cut off.

Yesterday, we reported that the popular BitTorrent tracker Demonoid was to be resurrected, under a new administrator. Now, less that a day later the site has made its comeback after exactly 6 months of downtime.
Demonoid, once one of the most popular BitTorrent trackers, has reappeared again, this time hosted in Ukraine. The website is still down but the trackers are now fully operational again, perhaps a sign that Demonoid is crawling back up to speed?
