  • MovieX BitTorrent Tracker Founders Escape Jail Time

    Two brothers from Brisbane, Australia who operated the popular private BitTorrent tracker MovieX have barely escaped a jail sentence. The two were arrested late 2008 for facilitating copyright infringement and both pleaded guilty. Speaking to TorrentFreak, one of the sentenced brothers says he regrets his wrongdoings, but also wants to refute many of the false claims that are currently being spread by the media.

    After two of its founders were arrested by Australian police, the 400,000 member MovieX tracker hasn’t seen the end of its troubles. Although it survived the arrests, the site’s vital uploaders have been jumping ship and now, with the site offline again, it appears its finances have been plundered too.

    Just over a day since the MovieX BitTorrent tracker disappeared following the arrest of two admins, the 400,000 member site has returned. A remaining admin is adamant that TorrentFreak completely fabricated the story and that the brothers who ran the site weren’t arrested. All the indications point to the opposite being true.
