Mininova now has over 400 million torrent downloads, nearly 16 months after it’s launch. Currently, mininova is the most popular torrent site, leaving the piratebay and torrentspy behind.
At this very moment they’re even more popular than suprnova in the “old days“. And they continue to grow with over a million downloads per day.

More BitTorrent Sites Going Down

BREIN did it again. The Dutch anti-piracy organization forced TorrentIt and NLexperience to go offline. Although BREIN has no legal power, threatening with lawsuits and high fines seems to be an effective strategy to take the smaller BitTorrent sites down.

Targetpoint is buying BitTorrent sites

Targetpoint, an ad-company that is offering targeted ads is targeting BitTorrent sites. Targetpoint recognizes the potential that most BitTorrent sites have, and is already a partner of several torrent sites. Most of the time it stays with serving ads on a pay per click basis, but they sometimes go even further, and try to buy these sites.

Brein takes down more Torrent Sites

During the past two weeks the Dutch anti-piracy organization BREIN forced 6 (small) torrent sites to stop their services. Brein is known for its intimidating techniques, and is successful in taking down sites, mostly set up by hobbyists.
