[...] The bottom line is, BitTorrent sites are attractive partners for companies that are in need of traffic. A while ago we reported that the ad-company “targepoint” was attempting to take over several BitTorrent sites. Although Targetpoint officially denied these claims, they’re not the only one flirting with these traffic monsters.
The Pirate Bay doesn't have any stock or shares, there's thus nothing to own there. Should contact TPB directly before making claims of ownership over such an important website, IMO. ;)

Correction needed.

Targetpoint = Idium = Securo = Kuntzman.

Mr. Or Kuntzman, the ceo, is sneaking his perfidious tentacles into torrent sites.

QUESTION!

What happened to Securo, the free spyware program his previous company Idium paid a bunch of affiliates to push?

And how did a free program like Securo pay for the cost of all that promotion? See:
http://clusty.com/search?v%3afile=viv_474%4030%3aLmZpTQ&v%3aframe=list&v%3astate=root%7cN565&id=N565&action=list&

It's damn hard to get a copy of Securo now, I wonder why. There is one copy left, if a leet haxrr wants to decompile it.

[...] In our previous posts about Targetpoints involvement Empornium.us we never got to hear the story from Emporniums former admins. The Israeli advertising company denied that it owns or bought Empornium. This motivated one of Emporniums former admins to contact Torrentfreak to tell their side of the story. [...]

Regardless of what business connections exist or don't exist in this case, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that heavily accessed sites are prime targets for monetization and advertising firms will no doubt approach such sites they see ranking high on Alexa.

Money at some point also ends up talking for many site owners since heavily used sites cost money to run. If a proposition is too good to pass up, it would not be a surprise either that many would put their own personal ethics as well as whatever principles they stood for aside. Many site owners are also excellent at the art of spinning words (like Apple's Steve Jobs) to their own personal advantage and would have no problems selling out so long as they can hide that truth from the general userbase (else you end up with the kind of vitriol that some Empornium members are taking part in as well as the general boycotting of sites possibly associated with TP; even if they don't have all the facts straight). With regards to BT sites though, there is a fine line because of the nature of such sites. It wouldn't be surprising to find complex sheltering going on in order to hide the money trail. Most site owners would likely be laying low and not drawing attention to themselves with that money until they decide to "cash out and disappear".

History has shown that there will always be people and businesses who will flow to where the money is at and this one seems to be no exception. Anyone who thinks likewise is naive to the realities when big money is involved.
