If the current RIAA definition of stealing was true, then when you went to see a movie and told someone else the plot of the movie you would be stealing. What was the girl going to do? Sell her cellphone on ebay for $200 just because it has a short clip of “Transformers” on it? A low definition shaky fuzzy horrible sounding clip at that. It did not deprive anyone of any profit to do what she did, in fact it would have made the kid want to see more and added to their profit. As far as Jai’s “You guys” comment, nobody is going to sell a DVD burned with a copy of a “cam” recorded movie as a “real” dvd, and from the people I’ve met who download movies, they only do it to see if the movie was worth renting/buying. As far as laws being enforced because of criminals, does that go to every outdated law? Including the racist laws that said blacks couldn’t vote? Nobody should ever try to change any outdated law or fight against something that is clearly wrong? You need to get a clue, people who want to enjoy media are not criminals because they copy it. I have mp3 copies of my cd’s but if I give a copy to someone else who owns the cd’s and doesn’t have the technical knowledge of how to rip it themselves, I’m a criminal? If I were to buy a CD and set it on fire no one would care, why should they care if I copy it for myself?
