The First Blu-Ray Movie on BitTorrent
Written by Smaran on January 31, 2007For the first time, a ‘cracked’ Blu-Ray movie has been uploaded to BitTorrent. And no, it’s not that ‘Vivid’ title that the TWiT hosts seem to be oh so familiar with. It’s just the opposite. The first Blu-Ray movie on BitTorrent is the children’s animation flick, Ice Age 2.
Who said toddlers don’t need their hi-def BitTorrent fix? Lesson learnt: It’s not always the porn industry leading the way. Children’s movies and animation films are possibly just as popular, albeit with a younger audience.
We recently reported on the first HD-DVD movie to be leaked onto BitTorrent. Now, the first Blu-Ray title has gone up. Once again, the private BitTorrent tracker, HDBits.org, is where the action’s at. The site lead the way by playing host to the first HD-DVD torrent. Now they can also take credit for serving up the first Blu-Ray torrent.
Slightly larger than the HD-DVD movie, the Ice Age 2 Blu-ray torrent is some 22 GBs. The first HD-DVD torrent, Serenity, was 19.6 GBs.
Here’s a screenshot of the torrent, courtesy of HDTV Blogger.

Lol, 22 gigs is nothing for a BT-download. With these new fast broadband connections that would be something like an overnight download.
Even this 24/2 adsl2+ will download that size files quite fast.
Downloads only go as fast as the uploads. The majority of us are stuck with slower speeds.
er.. no. Not these days, depends on the network excess, and with many private sites hosting 100mb pipes, upload is not an issue.
Cartoons in HD? Does it really look better? I think I will wait.
22 gigs bah I have 6 and a half terrabytes in my home network with 4 PC’s and 3 laptops and a 4 modded xboxs with 80 gig drives.
and shaw nitro 25 megs down and 512 kbs up.
networking is fun and limitless so to say:)
there’s a big difference in res. if you have the equipment to support it as in HD tv’s and projectors.
Boo hoo, those who cannot handle progress, airgo, larger file sizes, should go and relieve thyself in the nearest cornfield.
Come to Japan, everything is in Japanese, yes, even the cornfields, but you dont get faster internet anywhere else…
Come Robin, to Bat-line(fast and effective) 24/7. In your American and Brittish Faces, BOOOYAA
