PC gaming isn’t expensive.

Two years ago I bought a £350 Dell Inspiron 530s (brand new) just for casual gaming (WoW, CoD4 etc)

It has 3gb RAM and dual 2.6Ghz processors

When MW2 specs were announced, I needed to upgrade my video card. An hour on ebay and I had bidded on a new, sealed Radeon HD4650 video card for £35 – which I won. To accomodate it though, I had to buy a new casing. I got a half decent one so that was £50.

If I got the normal 530 desktop I wouldn’t have had to upgrade case and would’ve saved myself £50 on the actual desktop and another £50 not having to buy a case.

I now run MW2 on 30-50fps constantly on maximum graphics for just £420 on a machine that can also run PC exclusive games, browse the net properly, word processing, storing thousands of songs etc etc etc

In contrast, my brother spent that on a PS3 shortly after launch. And another £450 on a decent HDTV (30″+++) just to play games or slowly browse the net.

they must really disperate to say anything about pc gaming. I mean micro soft and sony lost what is now billions on consoles

There are too many extraneous variables and questions for these data to be conclusive. Is it piracy to simply download the game or do the people who download the game have to play it? Is it piracy if I lend or give the game to a friend? What about people that distribute DVD copies of the game? How do you deal with fake torrents? What about private trackers? What about people who download the game to demo it and then buy it, do they still count as pirates? How does the recent recession affect these figures?

In conclusion, it is impossible to reach the conclusion that MW2 is the most pirated game of 2009 as the actual figures may differ significantly.

Also, PC gaming will not die but it can be wounded. As long as substantial profits can be made from PC games then there will be PC games. Worst case scenario would be a lesser amount of PC games.

Arguably, piracy may be ethical from an utilitarian standpoint especially due to the recent recession.

IMO, this article needs more research, and the premature release of this article may do unnecessary harm to PC gaming.

Why, corporations not use this situation? 4 millions of people can use cut versions of games for free. And developers may use this games for advertising of many products.

Ok so im an xbox fan getting into pc gaming, like i know i cant get doom and css and some good games on 360. but each gaming console has its good and bad qualities, i use a 360 controller because i hate using keyboards. consoles will never kill pc gaming, sims wont be on 360 psp ps3 or wii. its just some of those games that will keep computer gaming to keep on trecking. and halo 3 will never be on pc, howver i do like halo 1 better on xbox/360.
my opinion on the matter, i hate paying outragous prices for 360 games and thats why i have come to pc gaming cos you can download the games you want, if you can find one that doesnt fill your pc with trojans and other nasty critters…
