While I agree that you SHOULD receive money for your content (as opposed to someone else), it doesn’t follow that you get to control how others use copies of your work.

Isn’t copyright a civil issue? surely you can just refuse to even go to court with them as technically they wouldn’t even have the right to enter your home with the aid of police if you put the police under oath to only honor common law.

@zarathustra You’re right, I didn’t spend enough on marketing so someone can take my content and sell it cheaper. After all his is creative and I am not.
Filesharers did spend money on my product just paid it to someone else. This someone else wrote on his website: this stuff is expensive to get so I can’t offer it for free. Premium accounts only.
I am not complaining that my content is available at other locations. I just think it’s not fair if someone is profiting from my work without me getting anything from it. I would give him even 50-60% commission if he sent me customers. But he prefers to keep it all. Just like the corporations I didn’t want to work with.

@KT – No ads on his site, just my content and his payment gate.

I am a content creator just like you. I have my own website, spend thousands of hours creating everything I have so far and work 40+ hours a week to create more. Just like you, I barely get by, but thats where the similarity ends.

I’m not complaining. Why? Because I feel honored just to be able what I’ve done so far and be able to live off what I make as much as I have so far.

In addition I don’t use payment gateways for people to access any of the content I make. I use ads to support the content I monetize, thus allowing people to always access it for free and without hindrance at the original source. Do people use adblockers? Yes, but I don’t try to stop them from doing so, or limit access to my content when they do, nor do I even secretly curse at them under my breath. Do people pirate my content? I’m not sure, but there isn’t much of a reason to, since they can get 100% of the content at 100% of its original quality directly from the source (me) without any restrictions.

Seriously, people like you piss me off, because you people always seem to want to shoehorn society into fulfilling your own goals, as opposed to finding new opportunity yourself to exist in the continually changing nature we find ourselves in.

…but obviously you’ve spent NO MONEY WHATSOEVER on marketing your ‘wonderful’ content. If you had, people would be paying you money to access it. THE FACT IS: filesharers spend more money on worthwhile content than non-filesharers – AS LONG AS IT IS OF VALUE.

Stop whining that your data is available at other locations. Perhaps instead, think of ways in which to add value to ‘your’ version of the ones & zeroes you’ve strung together. Other folks are making a very good living doing exactly that – irrespective of filesharing. many, in fact, have spoken out as to what a wonderful marketing tool filesharing has been for them.

1. I am not saying my content is so popular that is being downloaded by tons of people. I’m a small fry.
Read my post again please.
I am saying when my content showed up on filelockers I noticed huge drop in my sales within 2 weeks (with no similar drop over the last 10 years).
2. I don’t do concerts or t-shirts – just selling my content online.

3. Pirates are making money on my content because they get my content for free while I have spent thousands of hours and loads of money creating it.

Sooo, Andy, Are you saying that your content is soooo popular that it is being downloaded by tons of people who are in turn “earning money” on it? Wow. That must mean that you are now well known and popular, so there must be a lot of demand for your concerts, and t-shirts and/or book readings and signings…you know, ways that REAL content creators actually make money.

So, Andy, I have a question. If all those dastardly pirates are earning money on YOUR content, why can’t you???

I am no fucking corporation, just a guy who produces content and sells it on my website hardly earning enough to pay for my kids nursery (no car, no savings, small apartment in suburbs). Please tell me why a filelocker uploader should earn money on my content instead of me?
