hmmm you really have to wonder though. Lets say a company spends 3 billion on new fangled anti-piracy attempts. Wouldn’t it be cheaper to just give it away? I mean think about it, the most pirated games are the ones that have the highest DRM. Yet I’ve bought many a game that was DRM free because no one bothered to post a pirated version.

Open standards is the way to go , and if you feel like making money off it , don’t worry , their will always be enterprises wanting you to make something different out of your open source contribution ..that is the beauty of it , anyone and everyone can have what they want at the cheapest possible price and of course its free for the mass to consume and build things on top of it ..

The problem is not that the companies die. But they suspend services after some time has passed and the profits slow down.

It’s also a reason why I don’t see any point in buying games for their multiplayer side only, unless it’s a day one buy. All too often, the company closes down it’s servers in a year or two with a “30 day notice”. Or worse, they move them to cheap hosting with lag and a whole new array of issues.

Nope, sorry, been there done that, I’m buying only games that will still run years from now, or just skipping the whole thing and going for browser only games, at least those are honest.

Technology has been that much shittier since their inception.

It’s just the commoditization of software, and an attempt to undermine the open-web.

The corporations realised it was impossible to shoehorn micro-transactions into the web, so they came up with apps.

Never ever buy an app.
