anyways just wanted to add to those that think p2p groups are better then scene ones, then if you didn’t know it but ALOT of p2p group releases are just renames of scene group releases (or re-encodes) and very often when quality is dvd-like (but not dvd) the p2p groups will tag it as a dvdrip

He’s “been doing this for years” yet he doesn’t know the most basic things such as how to look up a release for nuke info (protip: preDB), doesn’t know that PROPER does not equal better necessarily – (protip: it can still have flaws). It’s amazing how people insist upon espousing their views and at teh same time rubbishing what other people tell them. The newbs who are curious (ie. the smart ones without the whole head up the a** thing going on) will take note and will be all the better for it as they learn these simple staples of organised piracy: never again will they download a dud release, a low quality release, a release with technical flaws.

Protip: the smart ones who learn a little will never download a bad release again and will move onto private trackers with direct scene feeds anyhow as that’s where smart people end up – it’s just better, you don’t know how much better until you get there.

So many goddam “experienced” (yet somehow acting like total newbs still lol) pirates here who need to LRN2PIRATE. Oh sure, hang on to your quaint ideas of “the scene is so s**t because they aren’t public so I wont touch it” … right lol – 99% of new content on p2p comes from the scene. Your silly ideals don’t alter the fact that having a system that is ruleless and open to anybody means no quality control is possible and no structure exists for organised piracy. This is WHY 99% of content originates in teh scene – controls by authority and measurable competition mean everything possible is released and it is all at the same high standard. Public P2P has no organisation or safeguards (malware and fakes anyone?)

And to top it all off they seem to have a problem with the scene which is where 99% of their new content originates.

I guess you download very little then – you know, seeing as there’s a handful of p2p groups that release stuff of comparable quality and only in a very narrow range of content. And that’s only movies and TV, good luck with apps and games LOL. I also guess you don’t know jack about warez standards seeing as they are updated reguarly as needed, the last Xvid standards was updated late last year and x264 only a month ago.

You’ve used BT for that long and still don’t know how scene naming works or how to download scene content that is high quality first time, everytime? I guess you fail at being a pirate then – enjoy not getting high quality files every time you download. Also have fun downloading the same file multiple times or settling for low quality.

Yeah, OK, you obviously have no understanding of how things are.

The scene operate secretly – IE. they don’t want anybody involved unless they are a part of teh scene’s function for a reason. That reason is risk of prosecution with consequences including serious jail time as has happened.

Some release groups have release tens of thousands of titles. Some site operators have sites that have PBs of storage – penalties are potentially enormous. Some suppliers risk losing their jobs for supplying software or other media. You really have NFI.

Also they don’t want uncommitted newbs for several reasons: there is a quality standard to maintain, any new member can potentially be a snitch/law enforcment or they could just be unproffesional or unknowledgable such that they are a security risk.

Most content on P2P originates from within the scene. The stuff that doesn’t is often low quality, non-working dross made by amatuers who also get caught facing charges and if they aren’t the fact is they *could be*. There is no quality control on P2P releases nor any motivation to even provide content like there is in the scene.

You may wonder how P2P gets so much scene content? Through site operators that allow it basically – these sites are taken down by LEA at a rate far greater than any higher level sites because of this extra way in. (There is a ranking system within the scene and sites that leak to P2P are lower down and not affiliated with any release groups in general – if release groups did affil with these site then they become an easier target see…)

Whilst there, very recently, some rare P2P groups that rival and sometimes surpass the scene quality wise, the fact still remains that content provided by them is insignificant compared to that provided by the scene. Also note that most P2P groups do not release onto public trackers because of security (IE. you can’t use seedboxes on public trackers for the most part). There is no P2P rulesets (quality definitions and standards), no competition (which promotes new content getting released) and no way of assessing that quality guideliens have been followed (nukenets). The competition aspect is far more important than many non-sceners realise. Most people don’t do stuff like uploading content “just for the hell of it” and if they do it’s often for the “e-fame” so it’s usually popular releases. Thanks to competition – the number of releases is more important than what is actually released in other words – scene groups are always willing and seeking more unreleased content, not just popular content. Probably, in my estimation, less than 10% of scene content makes it out to the public – most of it being TV, popular games and movies. Actually Bittorrent has less diverse content generally than filehosting, other P2P or Usenet but that’s another story.

Before you start insulting the scene you better realise that they supply something, consistently, that no other entity does and that the scene is at the top of the piracy pyramid. As I said, most content on P2P originates from the scene and there is no structure to provide the incentive for P2P based groups to get anywhere near changing this.

P2P is P2P, scene is scene – however The Scene is a systemised and standardised piracy platform that promotes security, quality and all content possible through standards and competition. P2P is an uncontrolled mess that is open to anybody, unsecure and relies on The Scene for most of it’s content that is worth having.

The fact that IMAGINE has a far better source for their telesync release than any scene group (allegedly – I do doubt you judgement as you do seem to not know piracy very well – and also claim a TELESYNC is almost DVD quality LOL) has nothing to do with with the PROPER tag is used…

IMAGINE have no justifiable way to PROPER anything as they have no rulesets to follow and operate in an enviroment where anything goes. There is nothing to stop another P2P group making another encode of lesser quality and labelling it PROPER – it means nothing and is nonsensical without being in a universal ruleset and system liek the scene.

They can’t release a PROPER because PROPER is a tag used by the scene to indicate a certain aspect of a release.

The scene has rulesets which define various aspects of a release that pertain to quality. Any title can only be release once (and hence “wins”) – unless it’s not conforming to scene standards defined by the ruleset or it’s an INTERNAL release.

If a scene release doesn’t conform to rulesets another group will release the same title with the tag PROPER.

Since IMAGINE is P2P they have no other release to PROPER as their is no race in P2P, titles can be released as often as whetever idiot feels like it – indeed IMAGINE often release several encodes of the same title themselves – and other P2P groups will release the same title very often.

Another tag that P2P groups use that they shouldn’t is READNFO – in the scene this is used to explain if a release is unavoidably out of scene rulesets to nukers. Seeing as there is no race or nukenet in P2P this tag is pointless.

Another notable thing about IMAGiNE is they’re not a ‘scene’ group at all, they’re a P2P release group that releases direct to BitTorrent.

I’ve not seen such high quality TS releases since Centropy got busted many years ago. Let’s hope they stay safe and keep producing.
