Well following my posting last week I downloaded the new Conan the Barbarian to see what it was like. What strange people is my thought.

I began to seriously doubt this movie when it hit the “I love you father. I love you son” part, What is going on here? These are Barbarians one step above wild animals and it should be more like “I admire you father you bloodthirsty bastard. You taught me how to wield a sword to slay our enemies, to rape their bitches and keep their children as our pets”

Things did not improve much. Freeing the slaves? Conan the Political Activist now? Well at least they did the honourable act of any dodgy movie in other words to get some girl’s tits out. Too bad…like the movie… there was nothing beyond average seen.

At least there was one classic scene. So any women dressed anything less than full battle armour is a “whore” now? I think that guy needs to get out more.

The only saving grace of this movie was Team Evil. Nicely done and almost a shame they met the predictable fate.

Well this strange movie gave me some laughs as well. One is when Conan is cut out of her. I can imagine her saying “I meant natural childbirth! It was only a poison wound and I had a few days left to give birth!”

Also I can imagine an alternate. Like when he asks his wife to name the baby and she replies like “Name him Pansy and I want him raised to be a farmer!” That would sure rewrite the story.

Oh well another dodgy remake of a former great movie.

      • Jeweknfh

well, I tried to warn you the previous week about it :P

        • Anonymous

That you sure did but like so many I had to see it for myself. This movie is more like a strange episode of Xena than the legendary Conan. It is not a bad movie, just not a great movie, so worth a watch if you have nothing better to do.

Remakes obviously make them money even if most of them are weak. So we are trapped in unoriginality and living off fame.

Like Violated0, I was warned… sadly, I ignored the warnings and watched the thing too.

Seriously, it was worse than 300 (and 300 is the benchmark for things that appeal to the latent homosexuality of fat-bubba roided out cops, TSA agents and prison officers).

Momoa did a decent job in Stargate: Atlantis, a fair job in “Game of Thrones”, and a woeful job in this.

I would have liked the baddie to be more like the Kurgan from the original highlander (which was woeful except for the Kurgan); the Kurgan would have ripped pretty-Conan’s head off and shit down his neck.

That said, “Conan” was ten bajillion times less faggy than Captain America. That film was so bad I would fess up to having DL’d is so that I could sue for human rights violations – it is toxic waste.

is it wrong that I thought the balding evil chick – even despite her idiotic obsession with impractical fake nails – was ten times hotter than the ‘pure blood’?

I suffered major brain damage as a child exposed 24 x7 to a constant barrage
of Latin American soap operas. I carried my mental impairment into late adolescence, but suffered the ravages of complete moral degeneracy as a result
of moving in with a much older woman whose second life purpose was to watch the Jerry Springer Show. Now that as a meandering adult I’ve found my winding path to Torrent Freak’s lists of the most downloaded movies, I’m able to report that my prior two impairments have not gone completely to waste.

Someone will claim that I exaggerate. Even friends who argue with me on an even
footing claim first that I exaggerate. In short, they cheat!

Yet, is it such an exaggeration to notice that the internet, which could potentially
be history’s most powerful vessel for the creation and transmission of meaningful
human culture, is so often and to such an extent the designated toilet bowl for all the
misdirection and waste that most restricts the human spirit?

If we are told that the internet “naturally” reflects all that is “natural” in “us”, we should be offended. Why? Because I think that as individuals we would not choose to
so rapaciously monetize all the worst that is in us to such purposeful exclusion of what is best in us either in our physical lives or on the internet.

What else is the Jerry Springer Show but the concious monetization of spiritual and intellectual garbage for the financial benefit of prime time media at the expense of
an audience which, but for the pecuniary profit at stake, could find the meaning of
their lives defined in terms of higher rather than lower artistic and intellectual
standards? I am reminded of the Big Three American automotive manufacturers
who foisted an ecologicly and economicly toxic avalanche of gas guzzlers onto the American Market through the sheer power of their advertising. Even after this
managemet of the market had banckrupted them, they claimed publicly that the
American consumer’s “preference” for large gas guzzlers had prevented them
from building smaller more fuel efficient vehicles. Was the American consumer really the proximate cause of all that large inefficient vehicular garbage on the American market?

True, the Internet is awash in garbage. We should, however, resist the invitation to
consider that the only “possible” or “natural” reality. No sir! The internet could just
as likely be the vessel of high art and high intellect. It could just as easily exist free
of intrusive advertizing, paywalls and DRM restrictions.

We need look no further than Torrent Freak’s recurrent lists of most downloaded movies to see clearly where too much of the garbage in our lives and on the internet is coming from.

Hey Torrentfreak, how about you stop posting these weekly top ten garbage movies, and instead focus on top 10 creative commons media, or anything focusing on independent media, for example? Or documentaries… or anything educational? This weekly page simply promotes garbage american movies, which serve only to rot the sould and numb the intellect. How about a list of things that sharpens the intellect? Thanks.
