Leaked TV Episodes Popular on BitTorrent
Written by Ernesto on June 24, 2008This weeks “Most pirated TV-episodes” chart lists four shows that were leaked before the official air date: ‘Stargate Atlantis’, ‘True Blood’, ‘Life on Mars’ and ‘Do Not Disturb’. It’s PREAIR season.
This week, seven shows leaked on BitTorrent, before they actually aired on TV. Four of those made it into the top 10 of most downloaded TV-shows. Preair leaks are not uncommon, in fact, it is suggested that some shows are leaked on purpose.
The data of the weekly download chart, collected by TorrentFreak, is gathered from a representative sample of BitTorrent sites and is for informational and educational reference only.
At the end of the year we will publish a list of most downloaded TV-shows for the entire year, like we did last December.
TV-shows such as “Lost” and “Heroes” can get up to 10 million downloads per episode, in only a week.

Heck, now if only someone would do a couple of leaks for Battlestar G it would really make my day and give me a “fix”.
I was beginning to get off BG but their last ep was just super and am totally ticked off to know i have to wait til JAN 09!!!!! Thats totally nuts…
Someone… please… leak…. Battlestar…. Galactica…. and while you are at it… delete any scenes with that guy who plays Gaius Baltar as well as the guy who plays Felix Gaeta.

WTF? Life on Mars for THE USA? That will utterly FAIL. Nothing can replicate the original 2 series in the UK. Making it American will make it shit.
It will fail like American Top Gear (nothing can replicate Clarkson, Hammond and May). I feel offended by this.
I liked Fringe the most but apparently it didn’t make it on the list
Does everyone manage to watch everything they download or do some people get it to have it and never get around to actually seeing it?
Personally, I still have several movies and TV shows sitting on my HD that I’ve never had the time to sit down and enjoy yet…
@Killer Tree, not just you dude… many of us here too.
We have found a pattern though, the bigger HDDs we have… the move “content” gets lost and stored away for later viewing.
Sometimes you actually think you have already seen something till you open it ages later… and find that you never actually saw it even once.
Many of us download stuff we would NEVER go to see otherwise… so theres just not enough time to see everything as you dl it, not unless you want a life other than watching a screen anyway.

true blood was sauce. too much like buffy and charmed. lame campy humor, and the titties don’t make up for it. the acting sucked and the characters were turds. if i payed for hbo i would be pissed. no more deadwood or sopranos, but they can pump out this crap?! outrageous.

That weeds part may not be accurate. My copy of TVShows automatically started downloading ep 204 a few days ago, which is an old episode. Someone probably re-uploaded it and triggered people’s RSS feeds in a weird way. My guess is that this probably happened to a bunch of people. Great show though.
NO ep 204 was a typo, it was actually ep 402 but they wrote it wrong. It was nuked and replaced with the correct title.

First of all, Atlantis is done in Canada. Secondly, leaking the first episode of a season/series is a new marketing technique to raise interest in the material. This gets people to watch it. As such, the TV companies don’t mind their stuff getting tossed around online, cause it’s free advertising.

Only the RIAA is dumb enough to sue its mainstream consumers. The MPAA tries more to abuse lobby powers to deture piracy as much as possible by manipulating laws.
Fact is suing and bankrupting people is really really bad PR in the digital age. Only reason the RIAA is so foolish as to sue its consumer base. This because they mass market trash created by them these days. As well as people have access to far better music or simply do no care about music anymore because of the limitless content that there is to pick from. Sadly they are more concerned about fighting among them selfs for scraps of a dieing industry to care about the long term. But music was always a FAD industry anyway… And they do not know how to get on the train now that people have the choices.
As for the TV industry they are not as retarded as to screw with the people that will be watching the shows they spew out for perhaps ones whole life. It’s not a good idea when the when your money mostly comes from countless ad buyers which need consumer support ultimately.
What is sad is the TV industry just doesn’t confess and put the preairs out with ads in them and start making some cash. I assume it is out of fear of pissing of its corporate masters. Sadly everything is so merged together theses days nowon can move on for fear of pissing of the big chain of corporate monopoly’s attempt to control content.
Anywho weeds is awesome, atlantis seems to be just about ready to die since it seems so far detached from what made SG1 so good. Only other preair that seemed worth the DL to me was Do Not Disturb and i found it very good from what i have seen so far. Much better then crap that has been getting renewed…
