why are the numbers so low, some studies show that tv shows are downloaded as much as viewed live.

should there be an extra zero there

5 Apr 07, 2009 at 11:21 by tsx

The shows name is “The Big Bang _THEORY_”, and the Wikipedia link is obviously all wrong..

6 Apr 07, 2009 at 11:22 by Anonymous

TV-shows such as “Lost” and “Heroes” can get up to 10 million downloads per episode, in only a week

from one of the other articles

i live in sweden and pay for cable in with my rent but have no V so my question is…

if i download the show that would normally be on my cable, am i breaking copyright or am i doing anything wrong???

9 Apr 07, 2009 at 12:40 by logic voter

@ liquidmonkey, yes you are breaking the law and yes , you are goin to burn in a lake of fire for all eternity for the sin.
even though you get the end product 2 weeks ahead of schedule, its got no ads, its ripped in your preffered codec, at your preffered resolution, and its good to go after a 45 second download.
waiting for YOU to watch it, at your own preffered time.
yeah thats a sin.
luckily im not a religious idiot.
+ iv no bible to take ‘morals’ from :)

10 Apr 07, 2009 at 12:53 by liquidmonkey

but isn’t what i’m doing the same thing as a TIVO (usa) or PVR (canada)???

i hope that burning lake is near some mountains :)

11 Apr 07, 2009 at 13:33 by Rolf

but did you pay for the pvr? :p

12 Apr 07, 2009 at 13:42 by Anonymous

lol wut?

17 Apr 07, 2009 at 17:47 by Zeriam

At the very end of lost there is a copyright warning I only noticed last week when my DVR stopped on the final frame.

18 Apr 07, 2009 at 19:53 by ZPX

@liquidmonkey
Then Answer your going to get from the MPAA is “yes” but your Right, a Tivo does the same thing, lets you skip the ads and records it for later. its no Different then the VCR

As Long as your not showing Auditoriums full of people “heros” or “lost” then you will never have any issue with the MPAA

Personally i think the Advertisers should try and Incorprate their products in the show. Such as pepsi or sticking laundry soap on the washer in the background.

or something close to what Verizon wireless did with Gossip Girl where Everyone is using VZ phones and adds in the background ect…..

Product placement in TV shows is already very common. Problem with world-wide “distribution” is that many products are only available in some countries or they may be marketed under different labels and brands.

Pretty much the only program on the list that I follow is The Big Bang Theory, which has a rather novel approach on geeks and is actually very funny too. :) (oh, and House of course but I actually don’t pirate it)

20 Apr 08, 2009 at 00:59 by NastyBedazzler

I’m surprised that Breaking Bad isn’t on here. That’s a great show.

21 Apr 08, 2009 at 01:39 by tom

Yea, I stopped watching Heroes after season 3 episode 3(Yea, I endured season 2). I don’t have time to waste on that unintelligent crappy show. 80% of them have seen the damn future somehow. crap show.

Terminator: TSCC has the most engaging story on TV these days.

22 Apr 08, 2009 at 04:22 by Yatti

The industry should take a look at how well South Park has done over the years…

23 Apr 08, 2009 at 04:23 by Yatti

Regenesis is still high up on my list..

24 Apr 08, 2009 at 04:57 by NBC player sucks

Heroes dl numbers would be significantly less if NBC’s player would actually work, it stops all the time and the ads seem to make it stop even more.

25 Apr 08, 2009 at 05:01 by freak

I wish these stats were correct. They always seem to forget about Chuck.

26 Apr 08, 2009 at 08:59 by Hey! Don't do that!

One thing that might skew the numbers … CTV (Canada) advertised a new episode of Fringe, whee! Broadcast Wed @ 9pm. This was listed on all TV schedules and (still) prominently on their own web site. Then they broadcast “Canadian Idol”! So you’ll see the Fringe download count increase for this week.

How come lost always loses to that gay ass show heroes??

28 Apr 08, 2009 at 17:00 by TorrentLover

Heroes was good, then it turned REALLY REALLY bad. I guess people downloaded it just because they’ve already half way watching it.

Kings, a new show, is really good. recommended.

It’s not pirated if broadcast for free!

32 Apr 09, 2009 at 12:14 by Anonymous

Well, 31, unfortunately it is considered piracy. The ToS that we automatically agree to by watching their channel forbids us from redistributing the broadcast without their express permission. You’re only allowed to record it for your own personal/educational use in your home.

Yes, it is idiotic.
