@19 Couldn't have said it better myself. But I'll try. :) TRON sucked. Yea, the special effects are fun for 5 minutes if you REALLY like NEON! The story was abysmally bad. Kid gets a call from dad, goes into tron to see him. Spends the rest of the stupid flick trying to get out again. Brings back a chick with him that has a dopey look on her face. It's California, she'll blend right in.

As far as those morons talking about how proud they are to dish out their money for BLUE-RAYs, fuck you. You're morons. What the hell's the point of downloading if you're just gonna buy the damned thing anyway? Some assholes buy them, never open them, give them away as gifts, or keep them on shelves as ornaments. That's stupid! They're stupid. They've completely missed the point of downloading these movies.

1) Free information for all, regardless of class or finance. (This is why libraries were built. So the elite would not be the only ones with access to information.)

2) Downloading is a new distribution model that antiquates the traditional model. By paying for it, you're just prolonging a system that should be abandoned.

If you assholes are so proud of yourselves, go buy the VHS, DVD, and bluerays. They're so full of shit. How many of these shitheads do you see at the movie theater buying a ticket, then walking out saying, "No, thank you! I've already downloaded it! I'm just here to do my part for the industry!" Assholes!

Yes Tron: Legacy is a sequel to the original Tron of 1982 but what the original Tron based on?

Many people who played computer games back then could easily spot the race sequence concepts. Different formats did different names but try LightCycle (exact same name as this movie's vehicles) or the game Surround.

Maybe not easy to recall facts from 28 years ago and some people would not even be born by then. You could well still be able to download these old games and the right emulator.

Tron was one of the very first movies to incorporate a computer game theme.

Interestingly enough Tron did very poorly at the boxoffice. So much so that Disney refused to make another live action movie for another 12 years. Back in 1982 the computer animation used was quite revolutionary and they even included a 3D computer scene which was technology that would not be created in real life for several more years.

As with more modern movies they soon turned Tron back into a computer game and sales proved so popular that the game earned them more than the movie did!

Hollywood these days likes to tap the computer games market when computer game sales is one massive market with sales they can only dream of.

Then 28 years later we have Tron: Legacy and they dare to try it again. Maybe now the animation is worthy of the story.

@8 tron wasn't based on a game dude... it's a sequal to the original Tron movie...

anyway, it was good I liked it. My brother wasn't as much of a fan though. I suppose it could have been better in some spots as parts of it are even more unbelievable now than they were in the original just because we all know more about computers now... but overall I think it's a fine movie.
