Top Cheap Russian AllofMP3 Alternatives
Written by enigmax on July 06, 2007The Russian government has closed down AllofMP3 and those who are trying to access its sister site, MP3Sparks, or another replacement may be disappointed that the site also seems to have disappeared. But never fear, those Russians have plenty of alternatives. We take a look at some of them.
There were roughly 6 million customers who, up until recently, were enjoying great value and service at AllofMP3 but following pressure from the United States over Russia’s World Trade Organization (WTO) membership, they are looking for replacements. MP3Sparks.com seemed to be the best replacement but as of this morning, the site appears to have disappeared - it’s unknown if this is a temporary situation.
In the meantime, we thought we could take a look at some other Russian music sites, offering cheap music to the masses.
Winner: MP3Fiesta
MP3 Fiesta hold nearly 67,000 albums from nearly 17,000 artists. Prices are around the $0.10 mark for single tracks with full albums coming in at roughly $1.00. Tracks are available from 192kbps and they take major credit cards and PayPal.
LegalSounds
Another allofmp3 replacement, LegalSounds.com prices are $0.09 per song, full album downloads average $1 each. Music carried includes the US Top 100 Albums/Singles, European Top 100 Albums and UK Top 50. Tracks are available between 192kbps and 320kbps and they take major credit cards.
MP3 Search
MP3 Search carry in excess of 46,000 albums from 32,000 artists. Prices start at $0.19 per track but it isn’t immediately clear at what bitrate they are encoded. The site accepts major credit cards.
JustMusic
Just Music carry around 160,000 albums from 44,000 different artists. Prices vary according to the amount of credit you apply to your account and range between $0.11 and $0.15 per track. Tracks are available at 192kbps and they take major credit cards and PayPal.
GoMusic
GoMusic claim to carry over 35,000 tracks. Prices are $0.19 per track and around $2 per full album. Tracks are available in various bitrates and they take major credit cards.
MP3 Skyline
MP3 Skyline appears to be offering a huge amount of music. The site claims a staggering 2.2 million tracks available from over 128,000 artists. Prices are around the $0.35 mark for single tracks and encoded at 192kbps. Major credit cards and PayPal are accepted, along with other payment options. They also have a free download of the day, currently ‘Seeing Red’ by Killing Joke.
MP3Sale
MP3 Sale boasts a cataolgue of over 90,000 albums from 23,556 artists. Prices are $0.15 for a single track with full albums around the $1.50 mark. Tracks are encoded at 192kbps and the site takes all major credit cards, PayPal and a wide range of other payment options.
iSound
iSound currently offer nearly 60,000 albums from 14,000 artists. Prices start at $0.11 per track up to a maximum of $0.15, depending on the amount fo credit deposited in your account. Tracks are encoded at a minimum of 192kbps. Major credit cards and PayPal are accepted.

It’s a bit strange a bittorrent site is advocating paying for pirated content. I thought TorrentFreak would be against that.
To be honest, I don’t see any fucking difference between torrents and this crap. Both of them profit well from the stealing.

I’m pro file-sharing of course, but i’m also pro-choice. I didn’t set out to endorse any of these services but so many people (including file-sharers I know personally) relied on AllofMP3 for convenience, I hoped to show that its death didn’t necessarily mean the end of this particular business model, despite the overwhelming political pressure.
Some people will choose to spend a dollar and buy an album because they have little time, others will happily spend their time tracking things down because they don’t have a dollar. The decision to use any of these sites - or not - is freely with the individual.

Hi all! I am user from Russia (so, sorry for my English :( ) and i want to say following: All of these sites must be member of FAIR (http://www.fairlaw.ru/index_eng.php) otherwise 100% that they are illegal. If someone has claims, he will discuss about it with FAIR [or ROMS].
So, that these sites have:
1) JustMusic - N/A (link opens with a blank page. May be they are filtering users from Russia)
2) LegalSounds - On site there is a note about E-Now and # of license from ROMS (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.roms.ru%2F&langpair=ru%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools) - they have only russian version of site (soo, link to how it looks on Google Translate)
3)GoMusic - licensed by FAIR
4)MP3 Skyline - N/A, but they are really looks like http://www.recordings.ru! Recording.ru has a license, possibly from ROMS (i don’t remember)
5)MP3Fiesta - ROMS
6)MP3Sale - FAIR
7)iSound - N/A (Access denied for IP: 91.122.x.x)
8)MP3 Search - FAIR. Engine looks like GoMusic, but MP3 Search has bigger music database and FAIR license numbers are different.

I agree with enigmax. AllOfMP3 offered a service that is hard to replace - and some people will search for such a replacement, and others will turn to file sharing methods. Others will also turn to the uber-expensive alternatives (iTunes and the like) to get what they want. It really depends on what people want, and how they feel about the service they are paying for.

I use 4 of the shops mentioned on the list and they all prove to be a good service. Of course all these shops get the same music from the same source (p2p), but as mentioned before by the author, its the convenience that draws me.
Most of these ‘allfomp3 alternative’ music shops are discussed at the allofmp3 forums to great length and it can be reassuring to know that other people are using them ;)

You scum are supporting theft. Not one artist gets paid a penny for any download from any of these russian sites.
You may as well give advice on how to best steal from your local food store.
Is it anyhow possible to get a licence from FAIR or ROMS as foreign company? How much does it cost and is it possible to offer all kinds of mp3 then?
Do us artists all a favor and don’t patronize these sites. There is no clear evidence showing that these sites actually pay royalties to artists, and it is likely that they are pocketing all of the profits. If you believe musicians deserve to starve, go ahead, but I hope it weighs on your conscience. Don’t forget, the RIAA only represents 5 major labels - don’t make independent artists and labels suffer because you believe you are sticking it to the man.

I have been known to “pirate” music in the past.People have pirated my music as well,but it does annoy me that this site has My 4 of my tracks up for sale and I know that I will never get a cent for them and there is nothing that can be done to get them to remove them either.
I have run a small but fairly successful UK label for the last five years, may well have to shut down this year because of these websites.
Our label and its artist’s prides itself on an uncompromising and independant identity, like many small indie label we are able to adopt a much more free and creative approach than the majors.
By supporting these sites you directly crushing endeavours like ours and direclty contributing to a bland global monoculture devoid of invention creativity and joy.
Please, please take time to think about the value of music in your culture and please don’t steal from artists.
You guy’s are frauds man, your in music to make money, otherwise you wouldnt be so annoyed, what these russian sites allow me to do is to get hold of decent rare music that you can no longer buy anywhere, why, because the guy who made it did it for his love of music, not to make a few quid out of the so called ‘music culture’.
