I think the answer for public torrent sites has been layed out already.. it's called Google.

By that I don't mean use Google (although you can) I mean the torrent indexers should take up the job of indexing other content as well. General web content for that matter.

If the site has no tracker, indexes everything they have the same claim and protections that google and yahoo have as a search engine.

They can still choose to return .torrent matches in the search with details like seeds/leaches/health etc. (what's missing from google) and provide sort/search methods to easily/only find torrents but as long as they make the effort to be a general purpose search engine (hell call it Toogle or Tahoo! or Ting, whatever!) I think the mafiaa's can go fv(k themselves.

I hope to see this strategy taken up. Yes private trackers are good and yes private trackers help, but private tracker just means I'm hiding in a corner and that implies that I'm embarrassed or ashamed and admitting I'm doing something wrong.

That's just not the case imho.
Getting the torrents out in the open and sustainable will then allow the focus to the next front:
Either the populace ARE stealing or our copyright laws are defective.
Right now, that's not being addressed well as the fight/focus/energy is splintered (and I'm sure that's [part of] the mafiaa intent)

Enigmax, there is something I don't understand from your article. I would expect isoHunt has little to fear from a court case in the United States, when the site owner and server are both located in Canada. If this is true, why does this article fail to mention that and why does it call this "overwhelming odds?"

Thank you if you respond and thank you for all your research past and present.

copyright infringement is not theft.

theft is the act of depriving someone of their property. making a copy of digital media deprives no one of their property.

it is also a civil infraction, and not even a misdemeanor crime.

piracy is a water-born criminal offence. when you mislabel copyright infringement (again, a civil infracture, not a criminal offence) as piracy you insult the victims of actual piracy and strip the meaning from the word.

please learn to think for yourselves and use the english language properly.
