Configuring your torrent client the right way is important to get the best speeds out of BitTorrent. This simple script calculates the optimal settings for your torrent client to maximize the speed of your BitTorrent downloads.

The script is based on 1c3d0g’s excellent tutorial. The tutorial is written for uTorrent, but most of the other torrent clients out there have similar options. The only thing you need to put in are your maximum download and upload speed, the script then automatically calculates the optimal settings. If you don’t know your up and download speed, test it over here.

Check it out.

Hey i tried this and it gave me some settings that ya improved the speed of bitcomet BUT my PC’s RAM took the hit and the PC was just running laggy and the internet suffered alot.

It gave me download numbers in the 135kbs, i never saw those. But clearly it killed my system resources.

Any idea which of the settings its making my net browsing and overall PC Lag?. Maybe i can bring it down a bit and it can still give me the amazing speeds but without the resources being sucked?.

Maybe its your ISP. Some ISPs have been blocking P2Ps most common ports here in argentina and its been hell just downloading a single song.
Try alternate ports.

700+kbs download speed at the same time as uploading at least 150+kbs !!!

guess i don’t need this shit if it “speeds you up to 100kbs”.

right i have aplied that patch but at no point could i choose what to set the net.max_hlaf open to any thing it apears in event log system as event 4226 with a caution symbol with it . i then downloaded 10 free dj demo tapes thru u torrent and my overall download speed averaged around 500 kb/s maxing @ 640 ocasionally
but now im trying to download a large file and im maxing out around 50 kb/s which is a bummer there are plenty of seeds but i mainly seem to be downloading off the slower peers ? is this usual is there anything i can do to get better speed i use utorrent 1.6

thanx
