We are talking about the collateral damage to the whole Internet (all TLD’s). ISNIC has never taken down a domain. You are right, for what I know UK, or any other country for that matter, have no jurisdiction over .is domains.

You’d have thought that after all of the times ThePirateBay has switched domain names anti-piracy companies would have realised by know that domain suspensions don’t work. Even entire site blocks don’t work. To bad they’ll never fully understand the technology behind all of the legislation they’re enforcing upon the Internet. The only way to fully block sites is to either pull the plug and get rid of the power and send humanity back into the stone ages or remove the servers through a raid of some sort. Unless the technology behind the Internet changes there will always be a way around site blocks.

ProTip: When you’re running a torrent site, even if it is DMCA compliant the last thing you want to do is go to the police. Especially if it’s for compensation which lets face it you’d never, ever get. The assholes at PIPCU are slaves to US corporations and will bend the rules anyway they like. If you’re a torrent site owner the only thing you can do is move to a new domain name and if you can request a transfer of your old domain name…

It’s actually rather easy. Just refuse to comply with the notices since they are not court orders and even if they were since when did the UK have jurisdiction over Icelandic domains?

There is a tiny error in your article. ISNIC is the .is Registry, but not a Registrar as commonly understood. How ever ISNIC is open to a direct registrations from private and public Registrants. Thanks TF!
