Torrent sites under attack
Written by Ernesto on February 24, 2006The MPAA filed lawsuits against Torrentspy, Isohunt, Torrentbox, Niteshadow and Bthub. This could have a huge impact on the BitTorrent community since Torrentspy and Isohunt are two of the most frequently visited torrent sites.
But on the other hand, Isohunt and Torrentspy are torrent search engines and DO NOT host any torrents so the MPAA may have a hard time to built a strong case.
Slyck got a chance to talk to the operators of Torrentspy and Isohunt, and they responded quite relaxed:
“Funny, they didn’t email me,” Gary from ISOHunt said. “I’m not too concerned because we deal with copyright requests everyday, some of them from studios MPAA represents.”
“Justin” from TorrentSpy echoed Gary’s skepticism. “I guess I will learn more when I see what they have filed exactly. I’m not sure why they are suing when we comply with DMCA requests but I guess we will learn more down the road.”
Let’s wait and see, here’s a copy of the press release. Besides the 5 torrent sites ed2k-it.com (Edonkey), nzb-zone.com, binnews.com and dvdrs.net (newsgroups) are also targeted.

ok musicians don’t care if you d/l their music! they make ALL their money from concerts/tee-shirts and other merchandise think about it… itunes sells it to u for $1 (and you not even getting an mp3 you get aac crap) then the record company must skim off about 50 cents so now were down to 50 cents about 30 cents is lost in random crap so the record company can get more money so now we have 20 cents well… what is an artist going to do with 30 cents a song?!?! and they probally only get a % of that 30 cents like 2 cents wtf are they going to do with millions of 2 cents? oh boy another 500,000 dollars nobody cares
Ill be honest.. I cannot stand
DVD or CDs. You even look at them the
wrong way.. and they are ruined.
Old VHS tape were more durable than
that technology.
I liked the torrent sites because
the media goes straight onto a
hard-drive. No skipping, cases that
take up space, ect. That is the reason
why the torrent sites are popular.
Is the MPAA going to give me movies
in a media format not half-arse put
together by Tiawanese 9-year old
child forced labor?
To all who wish to get the A game in torrent sites check out torrent-finder.com , as it searches over 150 torrent sites at the same time

Wow.. You guys are all idiots who do not know how to spell or punctuate. In addition, you do not know the very basics of Bit Torrent. You can’t close down Bit Torrent– that doesn’t make sense. The MPAA *could* close down a number of Bit Torrent trackers, but that is all.
Additionally, Bit Torrent is not illegal. It is a perfectly legitimate method of downloading over a P2P network. For example, the Debian Linux Full Install is on two DVDs and takes up almost 7.5 Gigabytes. As a non-profit organization, Debian couldn’t possibly afford to host these files. By providing a Bit Torrent tracker, Debian can alleviate this bandwidth, and instead place it on the clients. In addition, the clients can download faster than if it was on a traditional HTTP or FTP server.
Come on kids, grow up. Learn how to speak right. Do you even read your post before clicking ‘Submit’? And for God’s sake, if you are going to use a technology, then PLEASE understand how it works.
End Rant
