There are more problems with the film.
So, this film does not contribute making file sharing legal.
I try to discuss some of my points.

1. Bad title
I wonder, why you named it “stealing”. From my point of view,
this should be called “copying”.
Stealing is the word for doing the action of “pirates of intellectual properies” called by the layers in order to have more chances to prosecute the other side.

What i do in a P2P connection, is not stealing, it is copying.
And here we have a hudge difference. I never would steal.

2. People without morality?
Very bad, that some of the speakers do not have any connection with morality.
I hear “we will share everything…no one will ever never stop us sharing everything…”.

There are some sort of materials – i do not want to give a list, because this may be different for other culture, but there is one, i must mention: killing peolpe – which are not allowed to be distributed. This is so from a moral point of view.
And i hope, this wont be allowed from the justice, too, in any country.

3. No answer to the phenomen “intellectual property”
There is a very short text in the middle of the film about intellectual property.
The young man, who is speaking, is speaking about one on the most interessting problem of file sharing.

What is the answer for his questons? No one of the “Kings of freedom fighters for file sharing” has an answer. So i have the impression, all these guys have simple not understood the matter. This is sad.

4. file sharer == people unable to comminicate
After seeing this film, i have the feeling, file sharer are mostly young people, who are not able
to communicate about the the new technical possibilities given by P2P technology. They want to use this as unrestricted as possible, and “basta”. (“Uff, i have spoken!”)

This new technology has effects on the society, too, and we should no negligate this.

There is a bad feeling in me, after seeing this film.
The message of the film is: steal this film, and steal other films too, because this is possible!

I am sorry to write this, but i do think:
– this is a bad film.
– the next film must have an other title and must reflect more morality and knowledge about intellectual propery.

I want to use file sharing, but without shaming for what i am doing.

True, we haven’t had that much cases in court. But many, many German people are threatened by letters from lawyers containing: “Pay a few hundred bucks (Euros, to be correct) as compensation for the rightholder and for our fee, than we will not take you to court, which would cost you ten times more. Additionally, you have to sign a contract ‘For the next 30 years I will never again upload the game/mp3/porn/software’.”

This is not scam or a dumb threat one could ignore. Without going into details, it is a legal action to act this way. Think of it as a cease and desist letter, but with fees, the lawyers have a right to get from the one who receives the letter.

German law. German politicans. A reason to emigrate.

Please correct the headline.

I’m in Germany and all this scaries me a lot…

Till now I wasn’t sued for file- sharing. Does anybody know how long does it take between the receiving of a threatening letter and the getting caught by a spying software ?

Yeah that would be like locking up ALL the cars the parents own so their kids can’t drive them. Aren’t parents supposed to stop kids from doing dumb shit?

One has to mention the German porn industry, which is sending letters in the same way the music industry does. I think of about 100.000 more threat letters solely from the porn industry.

People tend to use filehoster services like rapidshare and megaupload. I fear, those services will be the content industry’s next target in their war against their customers.

Our politicans only listen to the content industry and their few but mighty spokesmen. They don’t listen to the public, they simply ignore the estimated 7.500.000 German filesharers. Instead, they change the law to make criminals out of them.

I don’t like this development, as in my opinion it will never solve the problem. People have needs in the modern digital world, they have the technology and they will use it. It is the content industry that has to adopt. Otherwise it will be completely obsolete in about 10 to 15 years.

The laws are getting sicker and sicker. How they criminalize the fileshares harder then terrorists is pretty stupid.

Anybody knows a specialist in the Netherlands like this lawyer ? I would very interested in sue-ing Brein for a trial case.

Because , I might just do that.
