Torrentz Introduces Verified Torrents and More New Features
Written by Ernesto on January 29, 2008The popular BitTorrent meta-search engine Torrentz.com has introduced several new features, including “verified” movies and TV-shows. The site is now hosted in multiple datacenters - with full redundancy - to guarantee optimal service to its users.
Torrentz, ranked 4th in our list of most popular BitTorrent sites of 2007, has implemented quited a few changes over the past month. Some people might have noticed that setting up the new features and servers led to some temporarily inconveniences, as users were not able to add comments or votes. Luckily, the site is now fully operational again, with some great improvements and a new layout.
One of the most interesting enhancements to the site are the verified torrents. Torrentz now marks all torrent files from trusted sources with a green checkmark. These torrent files are uploaded by known groups such as aXXo, FxM, FXG and KLAXXON for movies, and EZTV for TV-shows. This makes it easier to find out whether a file is legit or not. These verified torrents are also listed on the frontpage of Torrentz, together with the search cloud.
Another interesting feature that was recently added is the profile page for registered users. On the profile page users can check their recent activity such as comments and votes. There also is an option to change the password and email address. Flippy, the administrator of Torrentz.com told TorrentFreak that he also plans to add the most frequent searches for every individual user there.
Flippy further told us that he will add verified music torrents soon, most likely in a separate music section. And, when all the major changes are implemented he might even consider to make Torrentz compatible with Internet Explorer 6. However, the speed of the site will always have the highest priority, no matter what. When we asked him how many users Torrentz has at the moment, he told us that he had no clue, “Installing a Google Analytics tracking code will slow the site down,” he added.

Torrentz might have been 4th in their poll, but it’s 1st in my book. The best part is how they list so many extra trackers for torrents that most of the time aren’t included in the torrent file itself. Copy and paste the tracker list from Torrentz into uTorrent and your peer/seed numbers increase dramatically and the download takes A LOT less time.

If he’s going to “add the most frequent searches for every individual user there” it means every search at that site is logged… there better be an option to turn that off or I have to find a new favourite torrent search engine.
It would be great if we could switch to the search to a verified state… then all the other rubish doesn’t create server load.

Pretty stupid when you click on “axxo” and it shows up “klaxxon” torrents as well.
I think I’ll quite happily stick with the actual sites for RLSLOG, EZTV, NewTorrents and TPB - at least you can find what you are looking for as soon as it’s uploaded and not have to wait on another stupid search engine to pick it up as well.
hmmm…that verified picture looks JUST like the uTorrent connection image…
its the best torrent site, youtorrent just searches other sites, its just stupid but torrentz categorize torrents.
But im still waiting for the favorites! :(

Do you even proofread the shitty articles you post? There are blatant errors in EVERY SINGLE ONE.
torrentz is such a good site, i use it every day, very clean.

As far as I know there are tools like AWstats (http://awstats.sourceforge.net/) who create statistics from logfiles, no need for google analytics or anything alike…
