Most restrictions are actually there to keep bad guys out. “Safety” was long gone even before Snowden told the world what most logical and reasonable people already knew.

I’ve seen sites that are strict about who can upload and make it difficult to build up a good ratio, but have a full page of information for donations in return for points. Those are the sites that seem most suspicious.

Most of the invite restrictions are there to keep the sites private. Ironically, it’s because of the crackdown on sites that many sites have been forced to close their doors to invite only. But if you get into one private site and build up good credentials, it’s not that hard to get invites to most other private sites. Just remember that the rules are different for private sites than for public sites. Private sites are for those who really want to share, not those who just want to download.

when someone wants to share, does it in PUBLIC trackers…. private ones are against the idea of sharing. I do belong to a couple of private trackers, mostly for speed reasons but I also share my own rips always on public sites and share the private’s content in public trackers whenever I can.

But then we have the sites like this where people like you cry their lungs out about how mean and evil the people running the sites and working their ass off and for most people completely free are… You fight for your point of view, all fine. You start at some tracker and work your way up? Clearly you’re a spoiled brat born in the late 90′s and have no clue what it means to work for something to achieve it. None of my trackers, all high level, have been handed to me. I joined, made friends, advanced userclasses and got access to recruitment.

You’re the guy sitting unemployed without education complaining that you dont get a well paid job as a boss. And fuck that guy who spent years and years on university. He stole your job that you’re way better suited for!

Realize that you dont have any say in what others do with their site(s). If you dont like em stay the fuck out of them, that is “consumer power”. That is way more of having a spine than to be a whining little bitch.

Another little selfish prick who thinks the world owes him something. You don’t like how a community is run, then simply choose not to be a part of it. It really is that simple. What you’re spouting is utter stupidity. Why the fuck would you be buying invites to a private tracker that you don’t believe is offering anything worth having and that’s run by “scumbags”? That makes absolutely no sense.

Why don’t you back up your words with action and start your own tracker, don’t require any ratio’s or enforce any kinds of rules, and don’t accept any donations or advertizements. Then advertize it any chance you get and tell anyone who’ll listen, “Fuck the police, the MPAA, the RIAA and all the other asshole copyright enforcers!” And while you’re at it, spend lots of money on new content to share with your community. THEN you can come back here and go on about all the other shitty trackers and their asshole, self-righteous sysops.

Tracker, you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. I used to run my own private tracker and I can honestly say that it was NOT about the money. I SPENT a lot more money on shares than I ever MADE off the site. I know of several private trackers around now that are NOT raking in lots of cash nor trying to (I know because I know many of their admins), including a couple of really good ones that offer a lot more original content than some of the more well known sites. And even when it comes to some of the ones that ARE raking in money, an argument can be made that some of them are doing so simply because they’ve become very popular and have a very appreciative community – in other words, it doesn’t automatically translate that the owners/admins of those sites SET OUT to make a lot of money. I’m not saying that making money is not the primary objective of many – of course it is! – but at least have the common sense to admit when you’re generalizing.
