I think Tribler is aimed at people sharing things LEGALLY on BT. Whether or not it benefits you or me directly, it will indirectly by helping give some more credibility to BT, which means fewer people scared off and more people using it.

Yeah, this whole thing sound like it can hit the fan. Anyone out there who got any information on the final version. This thing have got to have more to draw people to it then just chatting with some online friends. Yeah, the donating bandwith and all, but that is really nothing special. So any more info on tribler?

The RIAA do nothing. However, other more powerfull groups can. In my opinion, this client is the worst idea to hit the community. I sure hope that other clients don’t follow this. Else, I’ll have to find a text based Linux one… I wonder if there is one :-P

Think about it. If you have a large web of leechers, and they’re all interconnected some how – software like this makes it EASY for the RIAA to untangle the web and bust everyone!

Every single person that links to you, and everyone linked to them (etc.. etc), puts YOU AT RISK.

exactly.. and they have an ID that traces back to you, with ur IP adress…

so the question is..
will people actually use this?
yes. the noobs will.
but the people who know about stupid copyright laws wont. were too smart for it anyways.. the idea of having a list of downloads u made and rating them is nice, but its a big risk of getting caught.. unless ur downloading legal stuff like nix distros and nasa’s huge image files and junk that u could download off download.com..lol

yea i think this could, while a good idea, cause an uproar. the point in anomysity is that you can download anything and not have it traced to you. if your gonna have a massive list off 100+ illegally downloaded programs on your computer, and it’s showing up all over someone else’s computer with your name on it, not exactly the smartest thing ever is it?
