I disagree on the whole, once they run out of money they pirate. Mainly due to the fact (and my friends are all the same) that i will usually buy a movie/dvd/bluray, an album, or pay for tickets, and i will torrent or download something, if im undesired about the movie, if i dont know if it might be good or not. I usually buy it afterwords if it was; because i love owning a physical copy for my awesome collection, or delete it if it sucked. Either way, both the bad and the good copies get deleted.

According to empirical data and real science, piracy is not costing anything – not money and certainly not jobs.

If you want to claim differently, feel free to dispute the scientific studies commissioned by governments which came to the unanimous conclusion that the hypothesis of the “lost sale” is demonstrably false.

I.e. your claim that piracy costs even one job officially ranks with the claim that the earth is flat.

Your opinion is irrelevant as actual market studies have demonstrated that there is no such thing as a “lost sale”.

At least two governments have commissioned studies showing the exact same thing (the swiss and the dutch).

If there is no lost sale, the copyright industry isn’t losing anything at all due to piracy. And that is the only hypothesis which fits the empirical data.

That would be amusing if it weren’t for companies such as Monsanto which actually does consider re-planting their GM crops to be “infringement”. It’s a very ugly business.

10 years ago I had a group of 8-10 people in two weeks interval to watch a movie.
It cost 6eur on cinema-Day and it was fun as hell and we watched stuff like Fight Club or Euqilibrium or Gangs of New York. It was a good time with lots of varying content. Not just numbers and comic heroes and young chicks who are vampires in love or something.

Then they raised it to 8eur on cinema-day and we don’t find good enough movies to go even monthly. Prometheus sucked on so many levels, especially because they made us believe that Charlize would run around in that tight white dress all the time. She didn’t. Just two scenes or so. I do not believe they will do a second one, so we also have an cliff hanger forever, which mostly will be told in a comic strip in 10 years or so.
