Unfinished X-Men Movie a Hit On BitTorrent

Written by enigmax on April 01, 2009

April 1st is a very tough day to report big, controversial news – if you want to be believed that is. Fact: The new X-Men movie has leaked to BitTorrent and Fox won’t be laughing. The movie is unfinished with many special effects yet to be added. Fingers are already being pointed toward the possible source of the leak and downloads are already more than 75,000.

wolverineApril 1st. What fun. Everywhere you look torrent sites and release sites are being shut down, that’s if they aren’t teaming up with the movie studios. But what if there’s some really serious news to report? What if one of the summer’s biggest sci-fi movies leaked out onto the Internet way before its release, and before it was even completed? Still unconvinced?

This is the reality today with Fox’s ‘upcoming’ X-Men Origins: Wolverine and it’s spreading with determination on BitTorrent. At the time of writing there are at least three different ‘workprint’ versions, presumably from the same source. One is reported to be a few minutes longer than the others but all are missing special effects. The film, penned for a May 1 2009 release, was due to compete alongside the likes of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Star Trek in this year’s summer blockbuster campaigns but has ‘premiered’ a little earlier than planned.

Here at TorrentFreak we’ve been monitoring this leak and since the movie hit BitTorrent just a few hours ago it has been downloaded at least 75,000 times, a rate comparable to that of the DVDrip ‘release’ of The Dark Knight. Interest is likely to be significant. X-Men’s target audience are tech-savvy people who are likely to have heard about BitTorrent. Multiply this by the desire to see something unusual and something you’re not supposed to have (like an unfinished Hollywood sci-fi movie) and things got hot – quickly.

The leak is the source of much speculation, but one particularly interesting discussion surrounds the source of the leak of this ‘workprint’ copy. Many early ‘reviewers’ of the movie noted that not only was the video and audio of a high quality (screenshots), but there were no ‘watermarks’. This is not strictly true. A little way into the movie from the top of the screen pops a very brief message which names Rising Sun Pictures and a date, 2nd March 2009.

Founded in 1995, Rising Sun Pictures (RSP) is an Australian visual effects company which has previously worked on the Harry Potter, Superman and Batman movies, so they have quite a pedigree. Of course RSP would absolutely not endorse any leak and the leak could have happened before the print even reached them, but somehow a print marked with their company name has made it onto the Internet and the downloads are mounting quickly.

Another interesting development is that Devin Faraci over at Chud.com said that he’d been told that the Wolverine DVD had been “switching hands” over the last couple of weeks.

TorrentFreak contacted Rising Sun Pictures but as yet we’ve had no response.

Update: Fox has released a statement confirming the leak. The FBI and MPAA are investigating the case.

@1 – really, it’s not a joke.

I can confirm this is a real release.
Get it while it’s hot :p

Also, the music is not from Wolverine but from Transformers

8 Apr 01, 2009 at 16:14 by nntt

Well… This one has about half a dozen torrents, some with 25k people on.

If it is a joke, it’s a hell of a well organised one.

9 Apr 01, 2009 at 16:16 by The P!nk Pr!nce

Errrrrm……wow. May have to get me on this!

10 Apr 01, 2009 at 16:21 by Miroslav

It’s real, i just finished watching it :) It’s on every major public tracker.

11 Apr 01, 2009 at 16:24 by Revenge is bliss

Some folks that are involved in making this movie are not happy with their pay. Just because the economy is down doesn’t mean many people have to work long 16 hour days making dirt cheap hourly wages. This early release doesn’t surprise me.

12 Apr 01, 2009 at 16:29 by akademos

F*%k Shit… Its not a joke..Last time I checked the movie’s actually available at all major bt sites and its spreading like wildfire…
..but then on second thought u will wonder ‘ what’s an X-Men movie without visual effects ?’..I mean not watching these sorta movies in a theater already takes away the charm… and now a workprint without visual effects !!! Not that cool..
Studios need not freak out…this one’s a successful franchise and a sure shot hit !
…any ways cam prints come out for every movie on the day of the release..but good movies does its own bumper collections as usual !!!

13 Apr 01, 2009 at 16:30 by anonymous

I’m just gonna wait for the movie in the theater, it’d be better for the frreebee downloaders to wait for a screener.

14 Apr 01, 2009 at 16:32 by Aemony

Watching an unfinished movie? Why would I like to do that? I rather pay for it when the movie comes to the theaters. Nothing beats watching a movie in a theater.

15 Apr 01, 2009 at 16:34 by Diesel Doo

Theres also a leaked workprint of the new Star Trek movie about too.

16 Apr 01, 2009 at 16:42 by turbonegro

I’ve just downloaded this .

It’s the real deal :D

17 Apr 01, 2009 at 16:48 by Bean

I love how people get pissed off.. Star Wars 3 was leaked before release as well, and it was the biggest DVD seller at the time still. That should be partial proof that torrenting doesn’t hinder DVD sales, but moreso promotes it. If people watch this Workprint, they are going to want to buy the full version, or go to the theater and see it. If they like the movie, they may want to buy the DVD.

18 Apr 01, 2009 at 16:53 by Anonymous

@7 it’s standard practice to use a temp soundtrack while the film is being worked on. Once the movie is locked (editing is finalized) they compose/record the real soundtrack.

19 Apr 01, 2009 at 16:55 by lol

If anything this could probably tell hardcore fans if the story is worth a crap.. special effects are all the same..

If you think about it.. this is a DEMO of the movie.

20 Apr 01, 2009 at 16:57 by PirateDave

As a pirate, when the finished/official version comes out and someone pays for their copy and wishes to share it then I’ll be happy to download and share as well.

Until then–this is simply theft. I aam not now, nor will I ever be a thief.

21 Apr 01, 2009 at 17:02 by lol

@PirateDave

You make zero sense.

22 Apr 01, 2009 at 17:05 by www.10ch.org

“Until then?this is simply theft. I aam not now, nor will I ever be a thief.”

You have no evidence that this does anything to hurt its sales. In fact, it would probably promote it.

23 Apr 01, 2009 at 17:07 by TPM

Glad for the people who wanted this, but this movie will suck without the special effects (yeah, yeah… story and all that… but X-Men universe without CGI?!?). So I’m just waiting for it in theaters and a nice BluRay rip.

24 Apr 01, 2009 at 17:16 by riaatard

I never cared much for the series. I would care even less if it’s incomplete with green screen and the wires hanging off of actors.

25 Apr 01, 2009 at 17:18 by chet

@enigmax

lol you finally put up a story on it… i was wondering when you guys would put the juicy stuff up rather then headline that sill april fools joke…thanks..

im betting it was on purpose!!!

i know i dled it and watched great movie…

budget cost $$$158million

now we will see if this draws viewers or keeps them out of theaters this is their big baby summer hit hopes being released early… for me its a top notch an Imax watcher!!!

my bet if it doesn’t we will see legislation beginning to be pushed threw congress soon!!!

26 Apr 01, 2009 at 17:30 by Broom

It’s rumoured that it’s approx 14 mins shorter than the theatre release next month, who know if this is true. Some special effects are missing, some of the CGI is not completed but apparently it’s a must see if you’re into your Xmen.

27 Apr 01, 2009 at 17:39 by liquidmonkey

28 Apr 01, 2009 at 17:40 by liquidmonkey

ps, already hit #2 on TPB top 100 list!!!

29 Apr 01, 2009 at 17:43 by Up The Pirates

Let me think, I wonder who sent it out

Cost of 30 second add on 1 channel in one country $75K

Cost of releasing unfinished film $0.00
Resulting world wide advertisement on news channels and mass comment $0.00
Resulting stories in the press with follow ups for weeks $0.00

Resulting sales when true film comes out Priceless

I wonder who sent it out … I think I can guess, can you..?

30 Apr 01, 2009 at 17:45 by potatoe man

im diggin the rls blog feel this article has to it….

31 Apr 01, 2009 at 17:55 by nurgle

tbh, I don’t want to spoil the film for myself. I’m going to see it in a nice big IMAX theater. Why would I want to see a shitty 640×360?

Interesting that it leaked so early but not for me. I’ll catch it in the theater.

32 Apr 01, 2009 at 17:57 by Independent Observer

@29
I’d agree with you if this was some virtually unknown movie, but not with something this popular. I doubt even one person would pay to go and see the X-Men after reading a news article on its leak than would have gone anyway.

X-Men Origins Wolverine PROPER WORKPRINT XviD-RUBY

34 Apr 01, 2009 at 18:12 by Anonymous

who the f*ck wants to watch a workprint?
it ruins the film for you

35 Apr 01, 2009 at 18:15 by Sickenly

This is no different from any other release. The only film EVER that felt the hit on a situation like this was Hostel 2, but the movie was a joke. It was just plain bad. Star Wars III didn’t feel a hit at all. Epic movie will never feel the hurt over pirating. If you are for it, or against it…. It doesn’t really matter. People are going to see it in theaters if it peaks their interest. Plus people just like the big freaking screen. I would be careful though d/l’ing it from a public torrent site seeing how the public eye is watching this.
Remember A LOT of torrent sites are from Sweden, and they just passed that law that goes into effect today. If whom ever grabs your IP address, it could end up like hitting a construction worker in a work zone..(bad,Bad,BAD).

this will not stop me from watching this movie in the theater
it just cool to see the stuff before the final edits

39 Apr 01, 2009 at 19:26 by most_uniQue

I was actually surprised how few digital special effects this movie has.

40 Apr 01, 2009 at 19:31 by kenz0r

Those damned Romanians did it again !

41 Apr 01, 2009 at 19:34 by Anonymous

“Glad for the people who wanted this, but this movie will suck without the special effects”

If it sucks without special effects, then it’s probably gonna suck with special effects…

@nobody
“Guess the clueless will remain clueless. All you ppl that continue this on a public system are flat out stupid and need to go ahead and put the pin striped rags to go along w/ the bars.”

Sorry, but unlike you, I have a functioning brain. Public trackers are no less secure than private trackers, and no tougher for the MAFIAA to infiltrate.

Which doesn’t really matter, since a person’s chances of getting in any serious trouble for using Bit Torrent is on par with their chances of winning the lottery, but still, I’m not going to pretend that using a private tracker makes me extra safe.

Infact, private trackers have a much higher track record of being successfully taken down by the MAFIAA than public ones. While users are safe no matter what type of tracker they decide to use, the same can’t be said for the people who run them. Though the harshest thing they usually face is a C&D letter.

42 Apr 01, 2009 at 19:43 by epic flail

What I would say is to prove the studios wrong and go out and see the movie in the theaters if you like what you see. If this proves to be a huge hit, despite how early it’s been released, how can the MPAA justify itself in the future? Tell me what you think of my logic.

43 Apr 01, 2009 at 19:44 by Romanian BS

@ _slacker_

You, sir have no fucking clue what you’re talking about.

#1 “nogrp” is “No Group” as in no friggin group! this is not a romanian group, NoGrp is a tag used by most p2p trackers to say this is from a source outside the scene groups.

#2 Definately wasnt on that crappy sharereactor site you linked to, shut up and look deeper lol ;)

44 Apr 01, 2009 at 19:47 by Ndta

@nobody the first release wasn’t from the scene acording to zerosec and rlslog

45 Apr 01, 2009 at 19:55 by Ndta

I forgot to mention that the video and audio quality is great, just like most DVDrips are ( except the unfinished scenes :) ). The “missing CGI” aren’t realy missing, they’re just not complete, like having no color or having placeholders (all in all, except for the end it’s not so disturbing). An for the wires, well it’s maybe 4 or 5 times during the movie that you see them.

Even though I’ve watched the workprint you can bet that I’m going to watch it with friends once it hits our cinema. I’m realy interested how the finished product will look like, and I bet that most people who downloaded this workprint think alike.

I want some of what you are smoking.

47 Apr 01, 2009 at 19:59 by Charax

this illustrates why I hate it when news sites decide to buy into this april fool’s day bullshit. It’s childish, irresponsible and hampers legitimate reporting.

48 Apr 01, 2009 at 20:02 by youre wrong

@43
Usually they just go after the downloader from public sites, that’s why you don’t hear much of this.
You are mistaken if you believe that private servers are just as vulnerable as a public server.

49 Apr 01, 2009 at 20:10 by Anonymous

@Sickenly
“You’re joking right?
I want some of what you are smoking.”

What I’m smoking? That would be nothing.

You should try it sometimes, becuase it looks like you could use being sober if you think private trackers have a safety advantage over public trackers.

50 Apr 01, 2009 at 20:12 by h33t

the leak comes from the source but it is the filesharing networks that take the blame. what kind of bullshit is that?

all the leaks are done by insiders. the filesharing networks are the last to know but because we are the biggest consciousness the media cartel points its dirty finger at us

in the future filesharers will bill the studios for distributing their leaks

There are about 150,000 people downloading this on Minin**a right now on a few different torrents. How can this be?

Faked stats?

55 Apr 01, 2009 at 20:31 by Anonymous

@youre wrong
“You are mistaken if you believe that private servers are just as vulnerable as a public server.”

Yes, because The Pirate Bay went down and Oink is still up and running.

Oink may have been an unusually severe case(it was), but you can’t point to private trackers and call them exceptionally safe and secure after Oink was shut down as the result of a two year investigation by Interpol.

Setting up an invitiation-only system doesn’t mean jack in terms of security.

56 Apr 01, 2009 at 20:47 by selfPromotingMediaShill

arr!! i watch all day pirate all night!!! actualy i never go see things in the theater but if i like this i might go just to be contrary, lol. line one persons pockets to aid in my future pirating? hell yea, why not :p

57 Apr 01, 2009 at 20:48 by Anonymous

Downloading it now, but at the rate it is going I’m not going to get it for another 14 hours… it’s going at about 20kB/s

If this is as good as the trailers, I’ll totally go and see it at the cinema. I’ll tell all my friends how good it is and persuade them to come see it with me too :). If it is a complete let-down, relying on the X-Men name to make it’s sales, then I will probably give it a pass.

So really this is a more fair way of advertising, we actually get a good representation of what we are going to see rather than a brilliantly made 30 seconds of trailer and a rubbish film like they sometimes do…

58 Apr 01, 2009 at 21:24 by Freakfreak

Guess what …

I will grab this flic right now – JUST TO BE ABLE TO watch an early workprint with minimum special effects later AFTER I will have seen it in the cinema!!!

I expect that it will become BOTH one of the most and earliest pirated movies AND a box office top grosser. HOW COME?

But those lying dickheads in hollywood just don’t get it: If I want to watch a top movie I really want to watch I go to the cinema anyway (or buy it on DVD), REGARDLESS OF PIRATING!

Thew only effect of pirating is that I watch movies that I wouldn’t ever have paid any money for anyway. Despite their wishful thinking the MAFIAA would never make any more money from me than they are already making, even if they could efficiently prevent me from pirating at all. Shit hollywood dickheads!

And the few movies I would have watched in the cinemas but that I haven’t watched because i disliked the pirated “preview” is probably absolutely easily redressed by those movies I actually bought on DVD because I liked the pirated copies so much, and that I otherwise would have ignored totally in the first place if I wouldn’t have pointed to them BECAUSE OF pirating them before.

Hence I would call it even!!!

And “X-Men Origings: Wolverine” will just be another example that actually shows a POSITIVE reciprocity between pirating and boss office gross. Completely contradicting all the claimed losses those greedy hollywood liars are fantasizing about in their wet dreams for money making.

Jackasses!

there’s no way I’m downloading the movie, FOX really got screwed on this one and they’ll make sure the people that download it pay, as is their right. It’s one thing to download a movie after its released in theaters, but FOX could lose tens of millions of dollars on this movie, and I can’t see them getting a federal bailout. Even though they probably run their company better than GM or the other failed companies

I have no urge to really see this movie, especially one that is incomplete. Special effects are great — without them, what good is a Sci-Fi epic?

I’ll just wait ’till after the movie comes out on DVD (and download the axxo). This way we all win.

@57: “@youre wrong
“You are mistaken if you believe that private servers are just as vulnerable as a public server.”

Yes, because The Pirate Bay went down and Oink is still up and running.”

OK, the thing that’s wrong with that statement is that when we say “security” we’re not talking about whether a tracker or it’s admins get taken down we’re talking about users having their IP’s harvested – different thing to whether admins or a tracker faces actions.

“Oink may have been an unusually severe case(it was), but you can’t point to private trackers and call them exceptionally safe and secure after Oink was shut down as the result of a two year investigation by Interpol.”

Agreed…

“Setting up an invitiation-only system doesn’t mean jack in terms of security.”

Agreed again – partially however. The ease of getting of getting into a private tracker varies greatly: I am on Exigo & iFi(believe me or not, not the point)… getting into Exigo is nigh on impossible, I am extremely lucky to be there and I seriously doubt that anti-p2p can get into these trackers – in the case of iFi they certainly wont as nobody is getting in anymore and havent for a few years as I’m aware. BTW iFi and Exigo are’nt really even “good” trackers – iFi has a mere 600 members and doesn’t get that much content and seeding even with a box is nigh on impossible – but they are exclusive that’s for sure. Many other higher level trackers you must one know people to gain invites though forums and or RL and provide proof that you can upload with screenshots – again, makes it less likely that anti-p2p will infiltrate.

Now, I agree that in technical terms – the methods used to harvest IP addresses in other words – private trackers are no more secure than public trackers.

Nonetheless, private trackers are more secure due to the numbers involved. Anti-p2p is paid to harvest viable IP addresses – what’s the fattest target? Public trackers of course… why would you go to the effort of gaining entry to public trackers when public swarms are available with no hurdles to jump through.

Many higher level private trackers have many users using seedboxes which are useless to harvest the IPs of … why do you think many seedbox providers forbid the use of their servers on public trackers exactly? Because anti-p2p isn’t on private trackers very much at all and hence no attention is drawn to them.

Bottom line is private trackers are safer than public trackers whether you like it or not. As well as being faster and having far better members.

Wolverine dies in this version

73 Apr 02, 2009 at 04:06 by flash88

I think this was intentional on the part of the motion picture people…”leak” a version without all the bells and whistles ie the special effects, the very thing that makes a sci-fi movie good, sort of whet our whistles and make the people flock to the theatres in droves to see the whole picture

74 Apr 02, 2009 at 04:09 by JoLanTru

Oh Noes, nots the FBAA!!

75 Apr 02, 2009 at 04:32 by suck on it

I hope that the MPAA really goes after the person that leaked it, with a huge stink about revenue losses. Next I hope the movie is released to the theaters right before the trial is set to begin, and it gets record sales, and the MPAA is left with their foot in their mouth.

76 Apr 02, 2009 at 04:32 by suck on it

I’d pay to go to the theater just for that, lol.

77 Apr 02, 2009 at 05:05 by newb

this just shows the media companies still owns you people. they make a movie and you desperately wanting to watch it lol.

unless people remove their desires for movies, music, games, whatever that is released by big media companies, they hold a leesh on you neck.

they hold the power over YOU. your desire is your weakness.

It looks like Rising Sun has actually said something.

http://www.rsp.com.au/news.htm

Leaked ‘Wolverine’

In response to the recently stolen copy of the 20th Century Fox film ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ leaked to the Internet, Rising Sun Pictures (RSP) denies that it is in any way related to the unauthorised release of the material.

RSP Chairman and co-founder Tony Clark: “From the reports we’ve had, the stolen material is a work in progress version of the film with many incomplete sections. As we worked on individual sequences within the film, neither RSP or its staff members have ever been in possession of a completed version, so it would have been impossible for the full length movie to have been leaked from here.

It’s common practice for work in progress between us and the production to carry vendor watermarks and for these works in progress to be integrated into various edits of the film for screenings which would explain why our name appears.”

85 Apr 02, 2009 at 09:00 by Michael

Hopefully the person responsible for the Leak is fired and prosecuted.

What the heck is “X-Men”? I surely wouldn’t go to theater and I even wouldn’t be downloading pirated copy when the release will come out. But watching an incomplete film got my interest and I’m downloading it now. What an advertisment for geeks. Just brilliant!

88 Apr 02, 2009 at 09:47 by Anonymous

I guess this movie is not about Malcom X and Nation of Islam, is it?

89 Apr 02, 2009 at 09:48 by Cat

“April 1st” my eye. It’s quite real, and even though unpolished, it looks great. LOOKS great, that is. How it tastes…that’s another thing.

haha good shit people :D

91 Apr 02, 2009 at 09:53 by brizzl

Haha! How MAFIAA Mob Members are pointing fingers to each other looking for someone to blame.

JUST BLAME CANADA!

:)

Yeah..no thanks.

I prefer my movies 100% complete in all their high definition glory :P

I for one will not be watching this “incomplete” version of the movie.

Whats the point ???

95 Apr 02, 2009 at 14:04 by Elganko

Watched it streamed last night, it was really cool to get to see behind the scenes of the effects to come.
At some point in fightingscenes you could see mattrasses in some shots for a few short seconds.

I’d recommend watching it for that reason alone, the movie itself was good.
Not the best, but good still.

96 Apr 02, 2009 at 15:17 by Anonymous

Don’t know if it happens to anyone else but when I go to the torrent page I get a malware warning with chrome.

97 Apr 02, 2009 at 15:29 by dan

The version online is very rough lacks most of the special effects BUT THE STORY IS SOW BAD they have made garbage I’m sow piss off this movie is terrible

98 Apr 02, 2009 at 16:25 by Kirby

I lost all faith in the MPAA after watching Dragonball Evolution

power to the people!

99 Apr 02, 2009 at 18:03 by MCSmarties

oh my… *rolleyes*

We got us some Darwin Award Winners here!

Seriously, how ultimately moronic can you get? Why would anybody want to spoil an upcoming movie with a half-finished work in progress?

However, what’s interesting is that this is yet another proof that these vile, vile pirates who steal Hollywood’s hard earned dough are actually insiders…

Methinks somebody must have been treated bad at work or gotten fired!

100 Apr 02, 2009 at 18:46 by Drugs

The FBI is investigating it? Are you fuckin’ serious? The FBI, the people that I thought went after real criminals across state lines, are wasting time and man power to investigate the leak of a movie.

*Slaps self in head*

No wonder the United States is shit anymore, my neighbor is being slaughtered by a serial killer right now while the FBI is fucking off with the MPAA over a movie leak.

101 Apr 02, 2009 at 19:07 by edgar

i dont particuly like X-men…

the people who made it and stared in are gunna get paied way more then we ever will….

i just wanna see this for the funny green screen bits. and the wires. just sounds funny

102 Apr 02, 2009 at 20:03 by g

This is huge news. It’s all over the mainstream press.

A big, high-profile leak like this couldn’t have come at a more convenient time for the IFPA and MPAA lobbyists who are trying to legislate tougher restrictions on ISPs.

103 Apr 02, 2009 at 22:53 by Raab

I don’t know if you guys know this but the FBI always investigates copyright infringement. This is nothing new. Calm down people.

104 Apr 02, 2009 at 23:19 by P. Diddy

Wow. Someone fucked up big time! haha.

105 Apr 02, 2009 at 23:28 by n0name

Movie was pretty good, barely noticed the missing CGI effects.

Apparently it was leaked from a special effects company in AU.

@107 “Apparently it was leaked from a special effects company in AU”

Congrats, you read the article you replied to…

It was real, and freaking awesome and cool, I mean it was way totally awesome! I SO want this in HD!!!!!

109 Apr 03, 2009 at 04:35 by get ur fags right

actually kinda wonderin if it was the studio, or I could be makin up another conspiracy theory, but maybe they are losin alot of money anyway, could sacrifice a big movie, knowing they will probably still make the returns, then use it as an example of how terrible pirates are, then they deny that the profits they make matter because they will still say that they “couldve made more if it werent for the pirates.” I dunno, jus a thought.

110 Apr 03, 2009 at 07:42 by RzmmDX

FBI really shouldn’t be wasting resources and manpower for this. Let the industry fund a private investigator.

111 Apr 03, 2009 at 08:16 by Daken

Just watched the leaked version of this movie and I gotta say I am very very disappointed in it. There is no chance for a Deadpool spin-off.

112 Apr 03, 2009 at 08:36 by Joe

Rising Sun Pictures should talk to anyone who contacts them. Not responding to people, like the people from TorrentFreak, just makes them look guilty.

113 Apr 03, 2009 at 08:40 by Joe

#112, the FBI has a division just for this reason. A division for internet stuff, piracy, copyright laws…things like that. That’s all that division does. It would be a waste of resources for that department “not” to do anything about this.

114 Apr 03, 2009 at 08:48 by kaede15

Downloading it now but still going to the big screen as planed.

115 Apr 03, 2009 at 10:37 by ThirdWorld

Long live third world countries! They sell pirated DVDs on the streets around here, 5 feet from the Supreme court of this country.

I’d love to take a photo of that, it is the ultimate “fuck you MPAA”.

116 Apr 03, 2009 at 13:14 by Tec

Yup watched it it is a good movie
was even to get subtitles for it as i am deaf so theaters are no good to me.

I actually enjoyed the fact that it wasn’t complete kinda of watching how it is made and the movie all at once.

117 Apr 03, 2009 at 23:06 by blahblah

PirateDave

Your statement doesn’t make any sense at all. So you’re gonna wait till the dvdrip comes out and download so you won’t think you’re doing theft?

You’re crazy. I’m lmao. As long as you download something through p2p, you’re in the same boat as us. Don’t try and prove Mr. Good guy. You’re still downloading something for free.
You’re not Mr. Goodguy.

118 Apr 04, 2009 at 03:49 by DngnRdr

I seriously don’t think this’ll make much difference to the box-office.

Fans’ll want to see it on the big screen regardless of whether they d/l and watch the workprint or not, and it might even make a few people who weren’t going to see it want to watch it on a big screen.

I doubt anyone who planned to see it will decide not to see it after all after watching the workprint.

119 Apr 04, 2009 at 08:11 by iFox

I’m iffy on it. I just don’t know if it’ll be any good.

I know if I dl it I’ll DEFINITELY go see it in theaters with my buds anyway. But what if its no good? I’ll be disappointed and my friends wont even get the chance to see why it was disappointing.

I read through every single comment just to make sure this was real. :P It IS real.

120 Apr 04, 2009 at 13:39 by PirateKing

to comic book fans who know the real story (or at least a good version) the movie is whack. im gonna sneak into the theater to see it may 1st and just to see if the story is different and thats it. not to mention they completely and utterly destroyed the story of wolverine.
oh yeah and they killed my favorite character.
translation= if its a bad movie its still gonna be bad on release. (to comic book fans)

121 Apr 04, 2009 at 22:07 by Jay

Grabbed the film, although not the one commented as having a password. Excellent film and will be going to the cinema to see it in the full wide screen.

Even with the sfx missing, it was still a great film, can’t wait to see it as it was meant to be shown and yes, I do like the x-men series

Knowing that cgi can make the difference, applaud the movie company for leaking it, had got the impression that it was a naff film, but certainly not the case :)

#1 on the TPB top 100!

123 Apr 05, 2009 at 08:56 by SteveO

I have a question, does this have the “DO NOT COPY” stuff in the beginning? If it doesnt then, I dont think is illegal to get? Hmm in fact I dont see that on ANY of my dloaded movies. I cant see how they could get me for that.

124 Apr 05, 2009 at 16:24 by johannesfaust

some fat guys must pissed at hollywood…great!

125 Apr 05, 2009 at 18:24 by over here

wow they are selling this in the stores already here in the Philippines… P50… or just over $1

126 Apr 05, 2009 at 21:58 by boodar

Seems so many people are sayinng this is a unfinished copy….But most of them admit they will not download it or watch it until its been released from the big movie makers…..That says to me there judging something they haven’t even seen…I hate melons but have never eaten one…Lol.

Why not watch the “unfinished” movie then when its released watch the pay for version and then say what missing and not ??

Till that time try a fruit you’ve never eaten then decide if it tastes nice or terrible…

Do i class myself as a theif…No but the price of a cinema ticket…I class as legal theft as they are legally allowed to do this

127 Apr 06, 2009 at 03:12 by Anonymous

Pirate Dave at #20 .. WTF are you doing here

Until then–this is simply theft. I aam not now, nor will I ever be a thief

why are you here? getting info to tell on someone ..

128 Apr 06, 2009 at 10:35 by Fantasy and Reality

Hi, I’m from Hollywood, and I have a confession:

We deliberately leaked the upcoming XMen Origins: Wolverine workprint.

This was in order to kill two pirates with one sword. (pardon the pun)

The first was to subtly suggest how a film was made– the kind of work that goes into the process– an inside look so to speak (so that you’d appreciate it more and be more likely to part with your money), and the second was, at the same time, to scare you by lightly suggesting what would happen if a film ran out of money halfway through production, because of piracy and lack of support.

Did you notice the quality of our leak? Well, that’s a glimpse of your future if piracy is not put under tight control and punishable by law. The FBI story was fantasy, but it could have been reality.

The kind of substandard unprofessional productions that you see on You Tube from average people like youselves will be all you’re going to get if you let our industry disappear because of piracy.

Think about it, and make the right choice before you ruin it for yourselves and everyone else.
