It’s a little misleading because the US is such a large country. If you add all the European sites together they make up a larger share. Also, the US tends to be where the Internet is centered and is simply wired more heavily than many other countries.

There will always be advertising – I would have though it’s a bit impossible for them to block “all” ad revenue, and even if they do, the pirates will just roll their own ad network.

If this has ANY impact on limiting pirate sites, this will only affect the poor anyway, since for less than $5 a month, anyone can get a VPN and avoid all the drama.
For less than $20 a month, you can rent between 400-1Tb of disk space in a data centre, and get all your stuff from private trackers. This has other advantages as well, like a VPN dedicated to you, and is generally a very convenient way to go.

The VPN tunnels one gets from seedbox providers are far more reliable, and much faster, than the commercial VPN providers.

Whether you spend $0, $5, or $20 a month, it’s all still significantly cheaper than traditional PayTV providers and “legal” options – if you don’t live in the US a $20 a month seedbox is at least 5 times cheaper. Plus if you are using all private trackers the picture and sound quality is several magnitudes better.

In Australia, free to air TV is 360p, and 576p for pay TV, and if you want HD, well that will be extra $’s again thanks, and even then not everything is in HD. If you happen to choose to get your pay TV via the internet, the sound and picture quality are significantly worse.

WTF?!? “… the three key countries in which content is hosted are the UK, the USA and Canada.”

CA’s 2%, France 3%, Netherlands 4%, Germany 6%, UK 14%. WTF are they including Canada as a “key country” and not the others!?! IFPI doesn’t even get arithmetic, ffs.

Canucks liberated Holland, and took Ypres when no-one else could. Don’t piss us off!
