Why are a bunch of people outside the US acting like idiots and complaining about this, and how the US is trying to control their internet. It affects them in no way whatsoever. The bill requires ISPs to block the TLD. If your ISP isn't in the US, then it isn't bound by US law and nothing changes for you.

@64
"Any web site can be accessed via its IP address"

This is simply not true.

With the scarcity of IP addresses came the introduction of HTTP 1.1 and "name virtual hosting", which brought with it the ability to host many sites on a single IP address.

Some larger sites do have a one-to-one IP-to-site correlation, but they tend to be the larger sites which run their own dedicated servers. These can (usually but not always) be accessed via their IP address. But attempting the the same thing with smaller sites which are on shared hosting will result in a "Many domains are hosted at this address..." message.

Hopefully, this will change when IPV6 becomes more widespread

One day these rampant lawyers will be remembered as traitors. At their deathbed, they will regret their greed. They will die in agony with regretful thoughts until the very end. Their angry ghosts will haunt their greedy families for generations. That will be their legacy.

Legally the US can't do this. No single power is allowed to have any control of the WORLDWIDEWEB, aka Internet. I live in the US myself, and I don't really like the government. It is the most corrupt government I have ever known. All they want is money, but this would make the debt go from about 7 trillion now to over 15 trillion within a year or two if it passes. They would also be violating the countries own Constitution.
