To be completely honest with you,
most of these “popular artists” suck.

It would be unfair,
but I wouldn’t be particularly heartbroken if everybody who ever downloaded a kanye or jayz song were legally harassed and vilified.

Not for downloading songs,
but for downloading kanye and jayz songs.

A crime against good taste.

CONTRADICTS THIS: "With such a large user base, vKontakte can put this message across and make a move in the right direction to protect copyrighted works." You don't see why musicians should provide the fruits of their labour for free, but you do see why VKontakte's owners/programmers should provide the fruits of their labours for free? So should people be expected to work for free or they not? I can't work it out. Surely it's your job to protect your own rights.

Probably speeds up page-loads for the more heavily commented articles. You can read it quickly (especially on a mobile device), and still easily access the comments if you choose to jump in to show the Reasoned Neostyles Bobmail Anon Fetty cabal up for the shill that it is.

You know those spam ads that used to turn up “I can’t believe my sister made 60 gajillion spoondocks a month just posting on the intertubez”? They’re probably true and all talking about the endless drivel coming out of trollface’s keyboard making it lots of cash. Nice work if you can get it – pays better than an artist signed to a RIAA label that’s for sure.

It earns the labels more money if they convince people to start paying for a service if they’re not currently paying for anything. But that service has to be more convenient (or ‘better’ in some other way) than the freely available alternative. That’s not a lost sale, that’s a successful sale. A lost sale is the record label not offering a service that is compelling enough for people to use it and in doing so you’re not making money from either Artist A, B or C.

That’s capitalism. Not just selling physical products or indeed individual digital units.

No, they highlighted the fact that it wasn’t actually encryption through the use of apostrophes. It’s a simple concept. If I want to suggest that something is not to be taken at face value, let’s say for instance that I want to say that something is being labelled encryption when it’s not actually encrpytion, I can simply say that it is ‘encryption’ with those subtle little apostrophes. You see, language is a powerful tool when you know how it works.

In any way, the simple obfuscation that the article discusses is actually a basic form of encryption. It uses a key to establish the correct decryption of the encrypted content and the encryption algorithm is nothing more than a very simple code whereby certain key words or phrases are substituted for others. Thus, if you don’t have the ‘key’ and therefore don’t know which substituted words to look for or what they are substitutes for then you can’t find the ‘encrypted’ content or decrypt it. So, they chose the right word and treated it with the correct grammatically hinted scepticism.
