Received an invite, have the client. Not to sure if I should sign in… 2.0 seems good enough to me, but I’m way to privy on this ‘going through a server’ crap. It’s not even ‘https://’ secure, but will be soon they stated, but I’m still not sure. I’ll stick to my client/VPN/and Peerblock. Works for me, and I see no reason to change unless I can get proof that this is secure, and I don’t see that happening. :/

One of the things I have always loved about uTorrent is that it has a very small footprint, and uses very little resources. I have been using their WebUI which can do just about everything I need, and having additional stuff added by Falcon cannot be, at this point, anything but bloat. Leave uTorrent simple and small, please.

I stopped using Azureus because they added lots of pointless crap I don’t want or need in a BitTorrent client. I opted to use uTorrent because I was told it was simple. I’ve used it for the past year or so and now this. Looks like I’m going to have to find a new client again.

sluggishness is probably due to utorrent sending stats to their servers cleverly disguised as one of the swarms peers :o

Regarding rTorrent, I was using it around year ago when I was on OpenSuse and did a simple test, download for 10 minutes some fresh (not well seeded torrent) on rTorrent and uTorrent and rTorrent destroyed uTorrent for me.

I know swarms are dynamic and yes i had had uTorrent setup correctly, hell one may say even hacked to work like charm yet still, as far as i can remember rt did in 5 minutes more than ut in 10 so there you go. And again yes swarms are fucking dynamic and there are gazylion other reasons so what, all that matters are results.

2 Days using BitSpirit now, and realizing how sluggish uTorrent was :)

I use rTorrent + stream to all my devices PS3,media center etc.

Finally i had a good excuse to look for alternatives and found that my old client BitSpirit is back in development. Been using it since yesterday and couldn’t be happier. Farrell to uMPAATorrent it was great while it lasted.

…Oh sorry, what’s that I don’t have any proof that uTorrent has become evil, you sir are one sharp cookie, I don’t but if you check who is behind uTorrent you will realize that sooner or later something big will happen, and I’m quite happy I won’t be there to enjoy the aftermath.
