Well yeah, I expect them to defend their point of view (copyrights) to an extent, but what they have on there is insanity. As you said, speech? Really? They are defenders of speech now? Somehow, I had to keep myself from falling off my chair laughing. The Protect IP act is the very definition of NOT protecting speech. It's censorship in it's purest form. That though is ignored. But Senator Wyden wanting to block it for those very reasons makes him a bad person and obviously he's against the industry and it's workers and everything they say.

You're right though. They are as danger as any of those groups you mentioned. They all have one thing in common, they twist things to suit their needs and then feed the party line to others in hopes of converting them to their way of thinking. And the scary part is it's actually working and people are falling for it. I do find it amusing that you compared them to terrorists, because when I discuss the issues with people I tend to tell them that "piracy" is the RIAA/MPAA's fear word equivalent to "terrorists". Oooo aaaa protect us please. Do what you need to in order to keep us safe. That's essentially what happens. With people not speaking out, besides people like us, they think they can keep doing whatever they want. Which is why I'm glad Wyden blocked this, but now look. Now they're saying "you're either COMPLETELY with us or you're against us". How deluded do you have to be to say that? You can't question them at all anymore apparently.

I hope one day things change and they can look back and say "man wtf were we thinking back then". As opposed to looking back and saying "man why didn't we do that sooner, things turned out exactly as we'd demanded and wanted them to be". If it's the latter, I will be severely disappointed. More than likely, if it's the latter, we won't be able to discuss anything even remotely condescending in regards to them, it'll be censored. Or better said, blocked because of some vague new copyright protecting law.

They'd delete your comment for sure. I'd guess they've allowed comments for a while but then they became unable to moderate the tons of negative comments and just deleted the comment boxes.

But really, I'd expect them to defend copyright yeah but some of the points expressed there are pure and complete delusion. I mean, now they protect creators of speech? SPEECH?

That reminds me the day Jackie Murdock was pointing at us laughing for our comments that the copywrong crusade hinders free speech.

These ppl are dangerous much like fundamentalist Muslims, Jews and whoever. Ppl are all crazy about terrorists exploding bombs but ideological terrorists like those from MPAA can twist facts and no1 will even question them.

Jesus, we are going through crazy times... I see light in the end but that doesn't change the fact that the way to the light is pitch black dark.

Just checked it out myself. WTF. Man the BS they spew sometimes. They're actually implying that Ron Wyden hates the American workers in the movie, music and entertainment industries and is against them and that he's okay with them losing money and the theft of their goods. It's not flat out stated that way but the implication is there.

"We know where we stand, and we know where the 16 bipartisan sponsors and co-sponsors of the PROTECT IP Act stand: with the millions of Americans working in entertainment, the arts, and media whose jobs are threatened by content theft. Where does Senator Wyden stand?" - MPAA (the particular writer of that article is one Howard Gantman)

I wish they did allow comments, so we could ask if they're losing so much money and so many jobs, how exactly did they manage to post record breaking profits for the past 3 consecutive years. I bet they'd ignore that or point you to one of THEIR studies that says whatever they want it to say.

After doing a bit more reading, most of the recent articles are by that same guy, Howard Gantman. And they all tend to be skewed in favor of the MPAA and their views on everything. Literally. Just skimming them at the moment and I'm just shaking my head in disbelief. Man, I thought the guys I argue with drunk are ridiculous sometimes in their arguments, but these guys are champs. They spin things amazingly to suit them.

Funny to hear that most content providers want to distance themselves from FACT. And are not looking for tactics that alienate their users. This means that it's an even smaller group of companies that is behind the attempted assassination of open and neutral internet then we previously expected..

Doesn't surprise me one bit. I've just read post from MAFIAA about Ron's blockade on that shitty Protect Act. http://blog.mpaa.org/BlogOS/post/2011/05/27/PROTECT-IP-Act-Workers-vs-Wyden.aspx

Now MAFIAA considers themselves to be protecting creators of speech. Makes sense free speech isn't on their agendas. I swear AFACT going to the high courts was expected but this blog post is worrying.

So if they want to protect the creators of speech they should be protecting me since I'm practicing speech right here right now. No really, my brain is having issues to assess this.
