Warez Scene Members Facing 5 Years in Prison

Written by enigmax on April 03, 2008

Five so-called ‘warez scene’ members have been indicted on charges of conspiring to commit copyright infringement. For the unauthorized sharing of tens of thousands of files, the men face five years in prison and fines of $250,000 on each count.

Warez
U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut Kevin J. O’Connor announced that a Grand Jury returned a three-count indictment, charging five men with copyright offenses they committed as members of the so-called ‘warez scene’.

The five, using names such as iced, kidzapped, niterangr and tcut, were caught as part of ‘Operation Higher Education’ - a component of ‘Operation Fastlink‘ - and are all charged with conspiracy.

According to a report, Dominic Tymorek, a 53 year-old from Woodstock, Georgia, and 57 year-old Robert Hardick, of Getzville, N.Y., face three counts. Steven Fiatarone, a 55 year-old from Spring Hill, Florida and 43-year-old Michael Uszakow, of Oakdale, Minn., face two counts and William Parrott, of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., faces one count.

If convicted, the men face up to five years in prison and fines up to $250,000 on each count.

At the same time, 25 year-old Daniel Jaeger, aka ‘Microeguy’ of Wappinger, New York, waived his right to indictment and pleaded guilty before Magistrate Judge Donna F. Martinez in Hartford. Jaeger admitted to being a ’scene member’ for two years and building and running an FTP server known as ‘DataStream’ (DS), used for the distribution of pirated material.

Jaeger admitted that he knew that those accused along with him had uploaded pirate material to both ‘DataStream’ and another FTP site known as ‘Arakis’ (AKS)

Jaeger also faces five years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

Corporate fascism is taking The U.S.A.

Isn’t it great that a few people that shared files goto prison with fines. When a KNOWN corrupt president/government starts wars on lies and false flag ops.Has thusly murdered over 4000+ brave young men and woman with a side of 1 million+ civilians dead, spent OVER3 TRILLION dollars . ONLY TO RECEIVE MORE PROFITS AND POWER?!?!?!.

Corporatism, profiteering,All run the show now and just look @ all the corruption, death, hate, destruction it breeds.

Even Thomas Jefferson realized this..”If the American people ever allow the banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation, and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property, until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power of money should be taken from banks and restored to Congress and the people to whom it belongs. I sincerely believe the banking institutions having the issuing power of money, are more dangerous to liberty than standing armies.”

IT ALL CONNECTS VIA CRONYISM!

Foolish abhorrent laws are nothing but MURDEROUSE tools too freedom and liberty!

Except people are under such a deep delusion that Fascism has in fact already won.
EVERYBODY is so stuck on corporate teets that they FEAR for losing there JOB .

American public is/has been learning that we have been outright LIED too on almost EVERYTHING!
No riots,no mass protests,no mass quitting of the fascist regime.
Economic enslavement FTL.

FORCE A CHANGE or a change WILL BE FORCED ON YOU!!

Hope you all enjoy the corporate fascist state that YOU are STILL building for your future and your children’s,what little there is left.

American government invades Iraq, starts a civil war killing 1.2 million people. Nothing happens to them.

A few people share some files, they go to jail.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS WORLD? :(

Capitalism.

Nice, now let me get this straight.

File sharing/Copyright infringement=
5 years + $250,00 in fines

Stealing elections then reate lies to base a war on then pull a false flag or two costing 7000+ American lives + 1MILLION civilians DEAD=
Dictator of the world.

So like when the fuck will you revolt @ this revolting set of circumstances?

Those are bait characters with the explicit and very openly stated intent to oust corruption in the US DOJ.

Someone needs to eradicate the problem of imperialist crime and falsification, but the fact that its been pushed to an internal war between the DEA and FBI makes it very very pathetic that they would continue to frame children for “conspiracy” on behalf of the murderous criminal gang mass media and department of commerce and military sponsored criminal gangs.

As much as I hate the scene and their outdated, overprotective ways, it’s not right that these guys may go to jail and pay fines. Attempted copyright infringement? Give me a break! Not a crime. Information wants to be free.

It is interesting that most of the members are 40+. They may have started doing warez back in the old days on BBS’s, when the scene was cool. I bet they have some great stories.

@9

Totally agree. What about other crimes like rape where people get even less time in prison?!?!? Oh, like, shock-horror man. I copied a movie. OOooohhhh, arrest the world why doncha.

Can I say something to all those anti-piracy people out there. This is the honest truth her ok. Vista, for starters. I gave this a go, now it’s saying the licence is about to expire, so.. I can’t be bothered anymore with cracks and hacks. I’m going straight Linux from now on.

That’s a failure on Microsofts part, where if more people did the same as myself, which i’m sure there are some, then anti-piracy is a bad thing.

Copyright cops, this is for you. I used to love watching a show that was on youtube, this was taken off for copyright violations. Now I can’t get this show where i live, I now have a hatred for the show and network because they did this. They have lost a follower, who used to spend money on some of thier merchandise!

This is the honest truth and all your gready acts will be your doom. Take this into account when your sale start declining even more.

O’rly. Aren’t they granddaddies of scene members maybe? At least that I *could* find somewhat believable.

Seriously, the whole case is an obvious poorly-directed show. Another attempt to instill fear among general population (for the true Scene will only laugh ofc).

Then again, if you believe that type of BS, then I have a gold mine in Antarctic to sell you. ;-)

Genocide of Native Americans, Civil war, H bombing two major cities, murdering 5000 citizens and many more from asbestos poisoning as a pretense for war to kill millions more, to invade any country of choice and bring in the patriot act. All this is fine and heroic? All the innocent dead are crying out for justice, and people are being condemned for conspiracy because of sharing some software serials?

Jaeger rolled over and got the same sentence as the rest. Dumbass.

Thats fucking horrible, you’d get less time in jail for molesting a fucking little kid, what the hell is this world coming to? honestly.

46 Apr 05, 2008 at 05:00 by emm333arrdee

so, i am also pretty puzzled. wtf interests do d00dz in their fifties have with warez? is there money in it for them? when eyem fiftysomething, i hope that i’d be looking towards retirement and figuring out how not to work again anytime soon. unless there is some sort of $ for the pirated software and copyrighted material, i hardly see the reason to punish the old guys.

its the teens through 30somethings that the (c) police are really lookin fer. don’t they understand taht? they’d be best to do like they show in movies and HIRE these guys to show how they obtain proggiez for their operations, why they do what they do and try to get embedded with the culture. makes no sense to me at all.

It is one screwed up system when someone faces more prison time for sharing music then committing an actual crime. Talk about corruption! This makes me sick. We have real crimes being committed and overcrowded prisons yet our politicians care more about copyright laws. All I have read and seen in the last year has secured me never ever buying anything that might support the MPAA/RIAA. There seems to be so much corruption it is a wonder we have any rights left at all.
