Private trackers provide an INCENTIVE TO SEED. That is the most important thing you need to take away from this. Thats why they have to be private. The rate of death for torrents on public trackers doesnt even compare to the rate of private trackers.

Its not elitist to want incentive to seed torrents so you can also leech torrents that are well-seeded. It is from this that the private tracker system is based. The quality and diversity of torrents is an offshoot of this.
