What a wonderful view. As opposed to having ones savings extorted by capitalist corporate interests. Over exactly that, ones and zeroes. Unfortunately, until every interest on the planet is owned, and turned into a commodity, clean air and water included (just look at Bechtel in Bolivia, they actually BELIEVED that they OWNED the water that fell from the sky... rain.. owned..) the revolution will never happen. Right now we as the digital age are merely a chryssalis, growing and metamorphosing into this exact future of freedom from real charges for in-tangible material. This illusory ownership IS wrong. Just imagine, some-day you won't even be able to walk down the street, whistling an adlib tune... because someone already owns the patent to your gait, and the exact frequency range of your whistle. Not to mention that the random tune you whistled is also costing someone MILLIONS of dollars in damages, because you're performing it publicly.

I suggest everyone, close their eyes, curl into a ball, cover your ears, and wait for the bombs to fall, or the law-suits to come... and corporate USA wonders why people attack them. The terror levels have been raised to elevated... because people have started thinking for themselves! Run for your lives! Canada will accept us!

Guess what, no we won't, I will be guarding MY provinces borders with the rest of the armed guards when the USA refugees try and illegally enter my country.
Good thing Canada is slowly but surely being disarmed by its own government.

We in America won't have to worry about terrorists as we have the right to bare arms.

Americans have balls we don't just lay down and die. Look at history the whole world should be kissing our ass. It was less than 80yrs ago we bailed your butt (the world) . Out of hitler and japans grip. So before you have any kind of attitude towards us. Take a second and think. Be glad your not speaking German .

Matt, please realise that forums like this are filled with "facists". Hippies don't own computers.
If you also stopped being a vegan and got a job you might be able to afford some meat to get your brain working again.
It may sound harsh, but with the stereotypical preaching that you people do, nobody will listen to you except your fellow hippies.
Thanks.

Wow. Good bit of prose. this and the other one. Needs some work and very biased. Also not very "realistic"
but hey it's hard to create a complete working social enviroment with out bogging down to much details. Now
I'm not in any position to know what I'm talking about but I'm a sensible person and I can think through
situations. To a certain degree any way. I'm also bised towards inteligence.
Movies will still get made, music will still be played and "artists" that do the creating will still be
payed, copyright laws or not. Mainly because at some time in our eloustrious past they have and they will
again. Just alot of people will loose there jobs.
Back in the old days when we still sat around fires people sang, played rocks and jumped around alot. They
did it because they liked it and it passed the time. Traveling bands of "players" didn't just start playing
in taverns for half pennies and what not they started around those self same fires, keeping history alive.
So things have changed since then, we have books and moving pictures. But we still have the people that want

to act because it makes them happy and famouse, that want to sing because it fills a part of there soul, and
hey, if they get paid less maybe we can get rid of all the half baked idiots that have no talent and only
wanted to sing to be rich.

Alot of DJ's start off or run out of there bedrooms with a pc and an electorinic mixing deck and half there
stuff doesn't even get rleased, they get paid a fortune to show up at a club and mix tunes. Why can't other
people do that?

Sure all the hangers on that are only in the business will leave for a job that makes more money, but what
jobs? There is already unimployment in most countries. But for things like movies there are other
alternatives like advertising. Product placement is one. For bands, going on the road like in the good old
days when you could see Oasis in your local pub, or travel to see the beatles, will bring in money and they
will do it because they are good and they like it. So they have to work for there money for a change. Shesh
we already giving it to them and there not getting much of it. They will come to see as some already have
that cutting out the middle men is a good idea.

There are many ways it could go but what you have to remeber is that just like any ecology economics is a
very precariously balanced seesaw that is constantly tipping from one side to the other. It's an evolving
process and barring major war or econimy crash it's a slow process. And everything that happens affects
Yes p2p will effect this balance and alot of money will be lossed, alot of people will loose there jo
in my opinion media is an over inflated beast anyway and is naturally cutting itself back. A balance will b
affected and with most laws that are un-imposable (what are you going to do lock up whole countries?) th
idiots will kill themselves, be that artists or multinationals or peers that put themselves in the fir
line and don't come to an accomodation.

As for software, well, Linux has opened the door and as supprising as it may be to some there are people out
there that create programs because they like to and they want to help people. They do things because they
can. All through history people have helped others untill they found that there position gave them power and
then they abused it. Again yes alot of multinationals that depend on big revenue incomes to survive will go
under but new businesses will arise on new business models to fill the gaps. Again un-employment will rise.
Some people see better things for the human race and want to help us all get there, others want more earthly
pleaseures and do all they can to get them. And then there are the people in between. There never will be a
"1984" big brother state because people will fight back when it gets to bad. Yes alot of people have loat
alot od liberties in the last 100 years and done nothing about it, some have liked it, but it isn't bad
enough yet for most. I can't say it will get that bad or when it will, I don't know enough of social
sciences to know the pressure points.

I can't say what all the un-employment will do but hey, look at the dot.coms for an idea. Last point to all
the fanatic, die hard "MPPA - RIAA must die, bittorrent rule for ever" peeps out there, all thats going to
do is destabalise the balance and cause trouble. Yes there being pig headed and control freaks because there
lively hood is in danger, but then so is alot of other people as well.
Say the artist sells, or even asks for donations on a web site they run with the track downloadable. These are the people thats jobs are at risk that I can think of. Manager and everyone else in company - bodyguards and comopany they work for - advertisers and everyone else in company - roades - the people who make CD's and there company - The people who make cd cases and there company - the people who print out the CD and there company - the people who create and print the cd covers and there company - transport across/inport/export around world and there companies - warehouse staff and there companies - high street stores and there staff - online retailers and there staff. That is just the music industry and I'm sure there are other people I haven't mentioned. What about the companies that make movies and programs? were talking massive amount of people who might be out of a job. And that creates problems for businesses like credit cards - banks - loan companies. Suddenly alot of people can't afford the new models of cars, houses get re-possesed, people are made homeless... Ok extreme I know I'll stop there. All I mean is it takes time for things to change so take some advice, look around you and chill out a bit. I download all sorts of stuff I would never have seen or used if I hadn't. But I know what I'm doing and I'm not calling out for blood and demanding that I have the right to do things the way I want to do them. We should all have what is best for the human race forefront in our minds.

Hi everyone

This vision is nice as long as you don't produce yourself. And if all you kids (sorry for the ones I'm attacking wrongly) will have your first selling idea, all of you will love things like DRM. If you don't believe me just look at the folks of '69, some of them are leading the top enterprises behaving more capitalistic than their enemies back then.

Because you will be sick about those people minimizing your little budget (I'm not talking about the big fishes).

I'm NOT for DRM and I think cinema and the most programs are highly to expensive. But just think about for a second how hard it would be, living from the few donations of some frank people honoring your work. I admire those guys producing all this freeware for nothing but the - mostly untold - respect. And I try to use their software instead of moving myself into some copyright problems with Microsoft or Symantec. BUT myself, I'm not a role model neither because I don't give them money for their great work.

This makes me vulnerable to everyone of you brainless "Long Live Bittorrent" People by making me not a better person than you are.

I don't have a solution for my, call it schizophrenic, point of view. I just want you to stop thinking in black and white. Because that's what is causing the most problems (I'm not going to talk about good old George W., it has been done to many times before and is black and white too...)

Have a nice weekend! Go visit some cinemas while keeping Azureus running.

Amen :-)

Same Matt as last 2 posts.

It would be nice, if we could all just wake up from this nightmare of control and restriction. Unfortunately this *IS* the reality that we live in. People that believe that *THEIR* country, *THEIR* government would never do this to them, ought to either...

A. Give your head a shake, take a deep breath, take a step back, and look at the situation again. Realize that it's a TOTAL FALLACY, and fight for freedom.

or ...

B. Go back to drinking beer and watching Survivor, or f'n American Idolotry, do you people actually watch this tripe? This FILTH?

Here's your malt liquor and FOX television, here's 24 straight hours of American Gladiators.. Go back to sleep America, your government is spying on you, we know what you want. We'll tell you what you want.. what you need.

"Keep your head DOWN go to sleep to the rhythm of the war drums..." Maynard James Keenan

The Boogeyman is coming... the boogeyman, the BinLaden-man... CIA trained, son of multi-kajillionaire oil family..

I will be guarding the borders of that little province called Saskatchewan, one of the places where grain comes from. If the literate ones look at a map, just NORTH of the USA is CANADA ... Saskatchewan is the one province between Manitoba and Alberta, shaped like a big piece of cheese. For the rest of the sub-literate tooth-less wonders, let the government take away your guns! Your freedoms are AT STAKE right now... let the Government run your lives, and the bulldozers can push all your bodies into mass holocolostical graves.

We that love and appreciate freedom all fight for the SAME SIDE!

Oppose tyranny in ALL its forms! Support literacy, and don't let the illusion of seperation created by the Neo-Cons fool you! We are ONE PEOPLE!

FYI, I noticed something interesting today, a little off topic for bandwidth shaping, but open your eyes and use your brains.. you have them for seeing, and your brain is for reasoning.

The local police have, under pressure from a corporate entity have removed the press from covering our peaceful job action (strike, picketting, call it what you will). On day 171 of our strike against unfair wages and treatment from a grocery-store called Sobeys, the police officially REMOVED the press from the area. "You are NOT permitted to film here, turn off the cameras, turn around and leave." ... what saddens me, is that this statement, not only was it not filmed, it was not even mentioned when a severely castrated report was made on our local news station... You think that corporate capitalist fascism isn't far reaching? This one hits pretty close to home.

Call them Illuminati, call them Reptiles, call them Demons, it doesn't matter, they do NOT have the right to both suppress the truth, and attempt to control your life, overtly OR covertly.

It would be nice, if we could all just wake up from this nightmare of control and restriction. Unfortunately this *IS* the reality that we live in. People that believe that *THEIR* country, *THEIR* government would never do this to them, ought to either…

A. Give your head a shake, take a deep breath, take a step back, and look at the situation again. Realize that it’s a TOTAL FALLACY, and fight for freedom.

or …

B. Go back to drinking beer and watching Survivor, or f’n American Idolotry, do you people actually watch this tripe? This FILTH?

Here’s your malt liquor and FOX television, here’s 24 straight hours of American Gladiators.. Go back to sleep America, your government is spying on you, we know what you want. We’ll tell you what you want.. what you need.

you're missing the point. In share-all-torrent world, without effectivly encrypted software, firms will see no capital gains from producing new software. there's not goin to be ANY new software for you to buy if there is no incentive for producers. I was wondering if someone had an educated response as to what software companies..or law may do to correct this.
