Those weren’t the only incidents. What.cd was littered with SQL injection vulnerabilities which were exploited. What you’re referring to is just one of the hacking incidents.

It's not like the security fixes are a secret either, the entire TBDev community knows about them and there are even forum threads in place to explain what needs to be done. I take this 'announcement' with a grain of salt and am much more inclined to anticipate the release of Hydra instead.
