I know plenty of local bands that profit incredibly off of merch and not necessarily music. I’m not opposed to it at all, I’m actual very supportive of it. In my style, I can’t really do this. It’s much, much harder. I agree and disagree.

The fact that people liked my comments is respect to a musician (myself and others like me) that have to make a living this way. Music is my living. It is how I put food on my table. It is how I pay my bills. Are you telling me that I should all of sudden stop eating, paying bills, lose my career, all because this should be free? Hell, I love producing music and would love to make it all free, but economically I CAN’T do that! It’s impossible for me to make a living that way, especially the style of music that I play (which is classical, modern, baroque, romantic… you get the point).

And for the comment about “I won’t copare the relaxing moments of twiddling my guitar to intensive manual labour,” is exactly what you are doing. You are insinuating that music is not a hard task and is not physically taxing. It is. It’s hard on your body, depending on your style. A musicians life is not easy, it really isn’t. I’ve had part time jobs my whole life because I need to find some other way to put food on the table.

I seriously don’t know how to react anymore to this because of how warped your comment is, and so incredibly unnecessary. Music IS a commodity. Obviously, you like music. All of a sudden your favorite artists stops making it. You want it pretty damn bad, so you’re willing to pay for it. It’s called capitalism. Get with the picture dickhead.
