You are full of shit, Steam is not DRM free. It is a DRM mechanism because at the very least you have to:
1. Create a steam account.
2. Purchase the game for that account only or as a gift to another account.
3. Log into account using internet access to play a game. Now some games allow you to play using offline mode, but not all. Also foremost, you must go through step 1 and 2 to acquire the game in the first place.

Now Gog.com is a good example of what free drm is. This means it is not associated with any account that you have to log in, but can install the game to an unlimited amount of computers and require no account associated.

@KFC If you used common sense you will know that there is atleast some chance they download it, then turn to paying customer. People use computer, it has internet, they try out things before they buy it, it is a practical things to do, who ever don't do this and buy a game just for its brand name is a dumbass, especially with the poor customer services today that makes it hard to return games. Internet new model, youtube game reviews help the game economy because people can see footages of the games and give them more incentive to buy.

Rather than have SOPA passed and for example shut down youtube, so there are no review or gameplay posted at all, so no one knows what a game is like until they have to buy the damn thing, so even less people will buy it as a result. Then game publishers are free to sell shitty games like NFS rehashed and take down any websites that give their game bad reviews base on copyright infringement.

Valve understood this thats why their aim is to provide better services than piracy. They haven't account for the fact that games are fucking overpriced nowaday.
