Yet Another Pirate Party

The German Pirate Party was founded yesterday in Berlin. The goals of the German Pirate Party are similar to those of their sister parties: decriminalizing filesharing, copyright reform, sensible patents, and privacy protection, to name a few.

And of course the International Pirate Party Umbrella organization PP-International.

    Go Deutschland! They’re one country that really needs a Pirate Party, considering the fact that anyone caught for file-sharing gets one heck of a jail sentence.

    just one tiny clarification: In germany you CAN get a jail sentence for unauthorised copyright infringement, but it’s not the default sentence. (If you get an sentence after all! In the small scale infringement cases the DA or the judge can drop the charges either without any demandings or with a tiny payment to a social institution or other orders like community work) [§ 153 ff STPO]

    The infolvement of the DA’s offices even in the tiniest case of non high profile non commercial interests, only “nice neighbour p2p” are due to “technical limitations” (dataprotection laws) the MAFIAA must obey in Germany.

    They can not simply get the Names from the ISPs of the people they want to extort money from, so these greedy cartel guys let the german taxpayer pay for them by filing a criminal complaind and let the DA get the Names. Then the MAFIAA lawyers take a look in the file and get the name they are after to extort money.
    The criminal thingy the MAFIAA in those tiny cases don’t care about. It’s just an easy way to get what they want; Names to extort money from.
