Well spotted Will.
This is what happens every time there’s “self-regulation”, and it becomes just another Gentleman’s Club or Old-Boy Network where they appear to reign in errant Members but they do so in such a way that’s supportive and harmless.

For true justice to prevail punishment has to meted out by the Court’s and that can only happen if each victim who received an extortion letter individually sues the lawyer and their client for damages as well as reports them to the Police or Serious Fraud Office on grounds of extortion.

Unfortunately, I recently tried to do just that in a non-piracy case and the Police refused to accept my complaint stating that it’s merely a civil matter and my complaint should be raised with the official bodies elsewhere.

So it seems the UK Police are OK with businesses breaking the law, but not so keen if an individual were to do similar to a business or other individual.

I wonder how we got to that precarious and dangerous position?
