YouTorrent: Great New BitTorrent Search Engine

Written by Ernesto on January 04, 2008

New BitTorrent sites are launched every day, but only a few stand out or have something new to offer. YouTorrent is such a new site; feature-wise it’s just a meta-search engine, but the design and user interface make it one of the best I’ve seen.

YouTorrent: Great New BitTorrent Search EngineYouTorrent is “the world’s first real-time torrent comparison search engine” according to the site itself. The site is a meta search engine, which means that it doesn’t host any torrent files itself. It currently searches 12 sources; Mininova, The Pirate Bay, IsoHunt, MyBittorrent, NewTorrents, SuprNova, Monova, Vuze, BitTorrent, LegitTorrents, SeedPeer and BTjunkie.

This list of BitTorrent sites is not extensive, but it covers the three most popular torrent sites. A search for the recently released second part of Steal This Film returns quite a few results which are presented in a clean way. By default the results are ordered by popularity (seeds/peers), but they can be further sorted by date, size, and search engine.

If you can’t find what you were looking for you have the option to check for related and popular searches in the sidebar. At the moment the site has no ads and is pretty fast, but that might change in the future. Overall, for people who like meta search engines, I think that YouTorrent is worth a visit.

More useful BitTorrent sites can be found in our roundup of the 10 most popular BitTorrent sites of 2007. Do you know any other BitTorrent sites with some innovative features that we haven’t covered yet here at TorrentFreak? Let us know and leave a comment.
btw h33t is good (traker and torrents), unfortunately their site layout is HORRIBLE.
I just went to that site once and saw the background - it was annoying, slow, and unnessecary. I didn’t go much further.

h33t is a cool site idd however, don’t like that weird background either :x
It slows things down o:

Seems like TF and the frontpage of diggg have knocked some speed off the site aleady :)

Not to be picky, but you seem to have to have scripts turned on for this site to work at all. Why don’t I like that?

Maybe I’m stubborn but I still prefer MNova that way–it has the best tracker and usually the best selection too. YouTorrent is also extremely slow and will probably wind up going to registered accounts (which could be used against you in court) soon…Right, another cool thing about MN: no registration req’d.

As is, I give YT a 3 on a scale of 1/10.

There are already lots of torrent sites offering crappy fake files. I’m sick of these sites. they should do something about fake files. they might block the user names and their IP addresses who post fake files..

http://www.onebigtorrent.org/ - One Big Torrent

Pretty good search engine for uncommon items. From the “About” page:

“OneBigTorrent.org is a new place for sharing material that deals with or is relevant to issues of social justice, progressive and radical politics, independent media, ecology. We run a local bittorrent tracker (which we encourage uploaders to use), and we also host torrents from other trackers, as well as ed2K and Magnet links.

There cannot be a formal definition of what content we deem appropriate for upload. If the concepts above don’t suit you, browse the index — you’ll get the idea quickly. We typically remove obscure stuff dealing with UFOs, mind-control, secret societies, Black Helicopters and what have you. The net is full of this bs anyway.”

#22 I installed your plug in for youtorrent.com yesterday but didn’t have a chance to play with it until now. Really nice. I never used the existing small Yahoo search since there was already a larger one on the same page. Your’s is definitely an enhancement in a world of too much junk. Thanks.

@ #37-#61 - Are you telling me that #26 is the only person who actually read the comments? Amazing. Stop b1tch1ng about YouTorrent and get with the program. Read #20 if you want a good torrent search engine.

Nice site, very clean layout.

Another great meta-search site is http://www.flixflux.co.uk which has just been redesigned, so it looks pretty clean too. It’s movies only though.

No thanks, I’ll leave downloading fakes/tojans/password rar files to those who want….

btw.. h33t is excellent, great dwnld speeds and files, but it does have a ugly interface

69 Jan 06, 2008 at 21:41 by Mr. Torrent

@ #20-Oh, well. Pearls before swine. You can lead a stubborn a$$ to water, but you can’t make him drink. Stop me before I metaphor again. :P

70 Jan 06, 2008 at 22:27 by n00bhater

all you idiots that think sites like this are good…….ya give me major lulz……… and as for the pathetic pile of shit that is h33t…….my god you lot are pathetic…….get yourselves into one decent private tracker like FTN, SCT, TL, SCC and you’re set…….and you’ll get minimal hash fails and IP’s blocked, AND you will max out your connection……..these public dump sites are a scourge and the reason there is so much heat on torrents right now……………

There is another BitTorrent search site http://www.morrent.com/ which works like google in searching, they are now in beta testing.
