These days? the few weeks that I tried BTGuard, I would get constant disconnects. So the fact they are down doesn’t surprise me any.

Good luck getting help from their support, the last I used them it took them two weeks before they responded to my subscription question.

Fan of TorGuard ever since.

You forget most people run windows. Unless you first beat that OS into shape it will, by default, fail to show you the file type, simply assuming the attachment needs a “zip file icon”.

Going without an AV isn’t wise at all these days. A good combo would be avast free, malwarebytes and spybot.

How do they know its a fake? sounds to me someone with money and power (such as mpaa) could hire some coders to make it and cause system crashes to newbie file-sharers (not pirates that just a stupid rude name for them) and if they pay its a bonus :)

but alas most file sharers are brighter then that.

Beats me why Microshaft decided that stupid thing of hiding the extensions.. it only caused problems.. first thing i always do is setup unhide files and extension its so darn annoying.. and clear example how its been abused with trojans

Yeah but if the file ends with zip and is actually an exe. It will open with winrar and won’t be executed so… You’re pretty safe
I’ve been without an antivirus for years without an issue. You just need to be careful what you download/execute and also keep your pirated winrar up to date apparently!
