Giving up my the rights to my intellectual property, just so that a bunch of nerds can enjoy free downloads???

Calling theft a share of culture doesn't make it any better. It's just that...theft.

No, wait. You make a serious mistake there! You mix up means of production and means of distribution. Means of production and distribution in creation of immateria is cheap enough to be bought and owned by very small scale businesses - contrary to in the industrial era where industrial factories required some serious investments for the means of production.

The only thing required to pay for nowadays is the direct work done by the artists. And for that - copyright is not needed at all. In fact - it is more of an obstacle.

Rick is Very well informed and has a broad perspective and historical knowledge. May be "pompous" at times, but all in all.. I don't think I know anyone else who could have inspired the pirate movement so far as (to this point in time) as he has.

The sheer fact that you actually are here slandering about actually kind of proves his skills... If he wasn't so fucking good you would not have a reason to be irritated at him! Admit it! ;)

Big Media have cut down one of the pillars of democracy: a free press.

By buying out all the newspapers, tv channels, radio stations, cable networks, film studios, publishers, virtually every other part of the information and entertainment industries, and then completely gutting their investigative journalism departments, replacing them with news-tainment, scandal-sheets, know-nothing talking heads who speculate endlessly on matters they have only the most superficial familiarity with, paparazzi, and other garbage, a small oligopoly of media multinationals has effectively eliminated a free press in the English-speaking world.

These are the same companies that make or sell you most of the movies, music, games and TV you want to watch.

A responsible citizen chooses not to subsidize the destruction of investigative journalism, and thus chooses not to pay these companies even a single dime for their wares.

Get your media from new artists who want exposure by giving their stuff away on bittorrent. Make your own music or games and give it away.

Use free open-source software.

Break away from the current business model and don't look back.

The only thing you have to lose is your chains.

> <i>"I am unfortunately for you and your precious uninformed leader the most objective person here."</i>

There's no way to verify that narcissistic and pompous claim from you, so it might very well be the other way around, that you are in no way objective, but maybe instead a bought lackey that only spreads false propaganda.

What however is verifiable, looking at your previous comments discussing copyright and legislative issues under this profile, is that you are extremely ignorant on those two topics, not understanding even the very fundamental basics.

So, when evaluating a comment about someone discussing copyright, as your comment about Falkvinge, should one really listen to someone who doesn't understand those issues, which means it's basically impossible for such a person to come to any correct, relevant or interesting conclusions about what he just read? Of course not.

Likewise, I thank libraries for archiving much of this culture too. In fact, much of what we share comes from libraries. And yes, governments support libraries, so there is good in that. I agree with the main points of this article. The era of copyrights should end and people should be able to share knowledge freely.
