The single largest threat to world peace is the US foreign policy where they see the world as theirs for the taking. I am not sure what country you think you are helping but that is a claim many American make when criticized about the trouble you cause in the world. The US always brings up South Korea as a shining example of their goodness saying they are protecting them from the evil menace to the north. Lets look at north Korea in an honest light for a second. Facing economic sanctions since the early 50s from the US led UN with how many Western countries troops on their borders the have held them of for more than 50 years. Had they been left alone to unify their country the popular idea is every one would suffer a terrible fate but what about Viet Nam after the US withdrew and the puppet government was done away with. Things seem pretty good in Viet Nam with a growing economy and good standards of living for everyone. What are these imaginary countries the US helps? In 2007 the US listed the cost of rebuilding Iraq, a country they destroyed based on lies, as almost 50% of that years Aid, now I don't know about you but when I go to someone else's house and break something I don't call it aid to fix what I broke. Again why should the rest of the world pay for American run away government? A nation of spoiled brats is all you are.

Bubba... you, are an idiot... anybody that makes such a broad spectrum comment on an entire culture, country, race or sex, is "special" to say the least, we might as well start blaming germans and russians for racism, blacks for crime and women for getting jobs... also do yourself a favor and research the creation of the internet and how the US government came to control it within itself and why the majority of the internet does in fact rest within the control of the USA... obviously if things go horribly the government could in fact filter its own internet as well as its domain types, .com .net .org .us .gov, so rather then whine about it... how bout you do something about it?

Well, there were too many comments and I didn't read all of them, but I would like to extend my respect to "Anonymous" although I would say that taking down their sites doesn't really make much of a difference. They probably don't have enough traffic to really make much of a difference by taking it down. I would say (not that I'm condoning this because that would be illegal for me to do so) that it might be better to investigate which methods of communication that they use and see if they could slow that down or break it somehow. Perhaps tie up their SMTP/POP/IMAP servers so that they couldn't communicate unless in person. I don't recommend doing this, but something to think about.

Yes, but you can't forget that thanks to the PATRIOT Act, if aide a terrorist (not saying all Arabs are, but, just saying) and this means going up to someone who has been labeled as one and telling them NOT to do that, YOU ARE IN VIOLATION OF THE LAW.
I can't help but wonder if American politicians are crappier at writing laws than they were in the past or if since, for now anyway, the information is freely available, people notice more often how much the politicians suck at writing laws. Personally, I DO think that there is a problem with breaking copyright laws, but this is not the way to enforce it.
By the way, I wouldn't doubt that the takedown of MU was intentionally timed with the vote on SOPA. I'm guessing that they didn't count on it being voted down. I bet they wanted to take them down AFTER it passed. If you think about it, with the time it takes to plan and coordinate a takedown like that, it must have been in the works for a while. They probably had everything set up and even though SOPA was voted down, it would cost too much to abort the mission there.
As far as Obama doing nothing, I think the problem is actually the polarization of the American political landscape. When he got elected and for quite some time after that, he tried to make an effort to run things in a bipartisan fashion. However, time and again, the Republicans seemed to always try to throw a wrench into it and screw everything up by filibustering. The problem is that since Obama was trying to do things that everyone could agree with, he alienated his colleagues in the Democratic party, and with out having 60% EVERY TIME, he couldn't prevent a filibuster, which would essentially block anything truly useful. I would agree that he hasn't accomplished much, but I don't feel it was his fault. The problem is that no one on the right side of the aisle seems to be able to agree with ANYTHING that he does. He should say something like "breathing is a good thing and I recommend that you do it, and do it often" this way, all the stupid nay-sayers hold their breaths in protest and asphyxiate.
