Simanavicius is just seeking for more free PR. Anybody can get Linkomanija's owners details from "donate" page in tracker. He phoned Linkomanija's owner few times, but he is not going to shut it down. So the only thing for Simanavicius left is to create an illusion he is working, make loud statements (for example, he is going to slap Linkomanija with 500000Lt fine (~150000€)). And yes, few years ago Simanavicius was working on the streets fighting real pirates which sold pirated CDs and had nothing to do with torrent community.

Speaking about piracy levels in Lithuania, almost everybody has some "pirated material" in their homes here, and everybody knows that you need to buy software only for use in companies (where computers can be checked anytime).

@94:
"if i invested my life saving in a bank i wouldn't want someone to be able to walk in and withdraw my savings."

If my money could be multiplied infinitely I wouldn't mind would you?

Even if someone got hold of my account but just copied the value available and leave it just as he found I wouldn't care at all.

Music in the digital age is in infinity supply it cost near nothing to duplicate it and so if market forces would apply it should cost pennies no?

Artists do get paid they have other products to sell like concert tickets, commercials, little toys, T-Shirts, public appearances that cost thousands or millions of dollars, bar gigs, party gigs and etc.

Just because you can't control the internet it doesn't mean that people are stealing, people are paying the promotion cost of the artist for free just like radio no? was this what you meant when you said "you already pay it's just it have no value"

The apparent free music it's not a loss if nothing it's a gain for the artist, the sharing it's the thing that opens up all other doors besides, what is the point in trying to sustain a model that is unfeasible and that cannot be sustained? people will stop using Tivo or recording songs from radios? Artists think that if they can't see it, it doesn't exist? people have to believe that artists are not getting paid when the record labels see some of the biggest profits of all times?

Sure if you say so then artists cannot get paid if people listen to music on the internet it's nothing like listening to radio and recording the songs on the MP3 directly from a radio LoL

"You do pay for them, they just have no value."

Explain to me why I'm paying for them when I record a song from the radio that in the U.S. don't pay royalties and when I do the exact same thing on the internet I'm stealing?

Here in Lithuania a new CD by any famous US or otherwise act costs more than $20... we don't have best buy or other cheap record shops here, but we do have the weekend DVD/CD pirate markets.

And at $20 per CD, keep in mind that people here in Lithuania make significantly less than $1000 per month.

But the pirated discs here are actually great... no extra features, but we're getting movies right after they're screened for less than $10, and they're solid copies, not filmed in the theater. We get some releases before Wal Mart does, and much cheaper!

Maybe the guy should work for social justice or go give people who can afford the fines in other countries a hard time.
