<i>"He's a genius..."</i>

Irony much?

The man has gained publicity by demonstrating an extreme level of incompetence in all of the aspects of law in which he purports expertise.

<i>"Kind of like the hacker that now works for the anti-hacking company. See, he wanted free publicity and he got it."</i>

You mean like the hacker who failed miserably and went down in flames publicly demonstrating he couldn't "hack" his way out of a wet paper bag? That would be a closer example since Mr. Meier's CV boasts a large range of abysmal failure only compounded by this latest blunder.

Free publicity which puts your name into the dictionary definition of "incompetent" still isn't good publicity.

The burn is strong with that one. My hat is off to you, good sir.

It would appear Mike Meier is one of the more unscrupulous caste of opportunists whose awareness of consequence ran headlong into Dunning-Kruger a long time ago...and stayed there.

We're not looking at a convert of anything here - just another con man who went into law primarily with the idea of trolling for tort as a way to make ends meet.

This TF article reminded me of this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_v_Gonz%C3%A1lez

And this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right_to_be_forgotten

It seems to be something people are trying to do (and succeeding in part): Even though information on the internet about someone is factual and accurate, people can have it removed from the internet anyway. It is the removal of free speech, freedom of expression, and fair use. And this is what this lawyer is trying to do: stifle free speech and fair use (by having images of his website posted along with the criticism) based on "copyright" grounds.

This TF article isn't the first time this has happened, of course. I think I remember reports of political candidates suing websites for slander or something even though what the sites posted was factually accurate.

Here is another example: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/think-twice-before-attacking-companies-in-online-reviews-223859518.html "KlearGear claimed Palmer had agreed to their terms of sale at checkout,
which warned customers of a $3,500 fine if they posted libelous comments
online and said they would report the fine to credit bureaus." And they did.

It's becoming increasingly harder to criticize anybody or any company online, whether you're posting facts, or just an opinion, without worrying about retaliation and/or litigation.
