Macs don’t get viruses because nobody is stupid enough to waste their time. There are so few Macs out there that it would be a waste of time. It isn’t that a Mac can’t get one…It is just a waste of time to attack 5 people…

If you are trying to cause damage you obviously want to attack the masses…PC users.

Would making shared files read-only help? Also it’s good to keep shared files already backed up, as well as non-shared ones. Keep P2P installers too in case you need to re-install. Be wary of P2P “patches”, and of course, very wary of downloaded exe files. Always check with good, preferrably free, updated anti-virus software. (ie AVG) Use security software, know what’s happening on your PC. ZoneAlarm is good; WinPatrol is another thing which can help. It monitors changes, which you can allow or reject. InstallSpy, SpybotSD, shredders, evidence eliminators; use ‘em all if you like. They don’t use much memory and can run quietly in the background. It’s no guarantee, but be smart and learn as much as you can. Remember, to them it’s all out war against consumers and PCs.
