As if those arguments are in any way convincing apart from to a very small percentage of who actually do that.

The majority will download for free and thats it……no support for the artist…nothing.

Why would anyone, other than collectors, purchase a hard copy when you already have a digital copy that can be easily converted to a CD…why use a CD at all. I have downloaded hundreds of CD without purchasing a single one and I would say that the majority are doing the same. Quit kidding yourself, it’s nothing noble about sticking it to the media companies if you’re downloading without paying…you’re a thief. Personally, I quit downloading because of the risk. It amazes me how people are constantly justifying an illegal act.

As @w3ts1ut stated, we were dumb in the LP, cassette and then CD days to pay what we did. Hardly any of that money went to the bands and the bands themselves have said this. @Thomasanderson, I have 100′s of CD’s too, plus LP’s. I’ve paid into the system. I still pay for what I like, mostly directly through bands’ websites. Calling it piracy, theft, deranged, whatever, still doesn’t counter the lack of correlation between music downloads and the supposed fall of music business fortunes (not to mention, correlation doesn’t equal causality).
