Basically its not worth becoming an ISP in Australia unless the NBN is fully completed. Then there will be true competition in the ISP market, and not just Telstra. Unfortunately, the Coalition probably will get in, and we will get FTTN instead of FTTP which is much, much worse.

Part of a quote from Steve Dalby Chief Regulatory Officer of IInet. (The day after the judgement) 21st Apr 2012

There are two things very obvious from this judgment.1. Team Hollywood should have stopped at the Full Bench decision. The HC decision has destroyed any gains they might have made and, in fact, put them so far back that they are now actually much worse off in terms of negotiating power than they were before they commenced proceedings. They made a series of strategic blunders in handling this case. Their arrogance and bullying approach means that they have spent (who knows?) $10 million or more, wasted four years and squandered all negotiating leverage. Nice one guys, come again.2. The discussion isn't over. We (the industry, but fought and funded by iiNet) have won a significant victory in the High Court, but the issue of online copyright infringement (which Hollywood thinks we should fix for them) is still unresolved. The beautiful position in which we now find ourselves, is that the so-called 'highly secret' piracy meetings will now be held in a very different atmosphere. The tone of those meetings will no longer be 'You scumbag ISPs have to take more responsibility and do as we tell you' – it'll be the ISPs saying 'OK smartarse, stop threatening us with lawsuits, focus on the customer and get real with addressing the cause of this behaviour'Until the studios start focussing on the customer and forgetting about control, they won't make any progress.

Now google Eircom Music Hub.

"Providers demanding more access to content earlier in its distribution cycle before they will agree to" Fuck us

Exactly what Eircom done, a little treat for corroding the liberties of Ireland.
They never even took it to court...

Still waiting for that day when all ISP's finally decide that enough is enough and fight back against the media industries that bully them so much.
Together, well organized and well motivated the tech industries are already much bigger than the media.
